separation is the opposite of squat, the back of the car lifts but what it's actually trying to do is plant the tyres harder into the ground so the body starts to separate on the suspension, this is what properly set up cars with ladder bars or 4 links will do and can be done with leaf springs by using something like Caltracs and the correct spring and shock.

this separation is seen from the wheel arch not from the rear bumper, because even with separation, if the front lifts with the weight transfer the rear bumper will appear to squat.

To add to Micks post, the reason you can't use this principle on IRS sedan's is because the diff does not have any trailing arms or leaves on it. In a solid axle setup the torque of the diff tube rotating in the opposite direction to the tyres is held by trailing arms (4-link) and transferred to the chassis and then allows the spring to push down on the rear wheels. This is where you see the separation.

We have the Koni Shocks on the shelf, they are $950 for a set of four to XR6T members :spoton:

The koni shocks provide a good, sporty ride with the ability to increase the rear rebound rate for a better launch at the drags. Most of my customers have found better traction with the konis fitted

Sorry for my ignorance Senna but those Koni Shocks... Are they suited to the standard XR6T springs or should the springs also be changed?

All Good, they can work with factory or aftermarket springs - the internal adjustment allows a certain level of setup whoever you need to remove the shock from the car to adjust
