I'm up for some new shocks, I don't have a great deal of knowledge in the suspension area, so what's the best shocks for a Drag/street application... I know for a well setup drag car you want it to squat and slowly release.. So what's going to be better, the koni's? Bilsteins? Something else? It is still a street car so obviously still need a decent ride quality.. Maybe something adjustable?

We have the Koni Shocks on the shelf, they are $950 for a set of four to XR6T members :spoton:

The koni shocks provide a good, sporty ride with the ability to increase the rear rebound rate for a better launch at the drags. Most of my customers have found better traction with the konis fitted

Sounds good senna, I'll give you a call tomorrow.. We've spoken before when I bought bushes throughout and a sway bar, at the time I was leaning towards some track work and we decided on the Bilsteins, but since decided to do more drag racing then track..

Thanks guys

Hey mate are these the best option with semi slicks at the drags too?

Im running 275 MT's and stock suspension at the moment

Most guys are using semi's these days mate, they worked pretty well for me and I have a few customers using them with full slicks too

just to be a technical and go against the general consensus, you don't want squat drag racing, you want separation, bit hard to achieve though in the sedan with it's irs without major changes

Spoton Mick, unfortunately we cant use that principle on the sedans so we try to embrace the weight transfer and hold it down through the 60ft. As you know these turbo cars have a tendency to turn the tyre after they get rolling (unless on a big stall or transbrake) and by that time the dreaded axle tramp can also show its head leading to breakages and average times.

totally agree Pat, my post was more so to change a few opinions as most people now think squat is good but not realising it's actually trying to unload the rear tyre where separation is actually planting the rear tyre harder, I see guys with utes trying to get squat when they should be aiming for separation because they can actually get it

Umm, so what exactly is seperation ( in suspension terms) Mick?

Im guessing its acheivable in a solid axel, but not in irs? Sounds interesting.
