I dont have a diagram or pics atm but can take some later.

The factory setup has the pcv valve at the rear, they can call it a pcv valve all they like its just a check. That goes to the manifold and sucks in gas under vacum. the most forwad fitting on the rocker is the breather, it lets in make up air as the gases are exhausted or sucked into the manifold if you will. Even when the check is closed by boost pressure the crank case is not sealed as the breather is open. As I said it definitely does vent under boost coz of blow by which is evident from the oil that builds up in the intake piping.

The reason you need a check after the can on the vac line rather than at the rocker cover is to stop the can pressurising. The reason the factory puts a check in is to prevent boost being pushed through the crank case and out the breather. Similarly a pcv on a NA engine has a spring that's just a little to weak to hold it closed under idle vacum, as the vacum decreases when the throttle is open the spring closes the pcv which prevents a vacum leak. I dont understand why ppl dont replicate the factory cct with some cans as it is legal and keeps almost all the sh*t being sucked back into the engine. Its not as ideal as venting to atmo in respect to sucking in 100% clean air but its legal and nearly the best of both worlds. Seems like a crazy amount of blow by if dual breathers are required to prevent excessive crank case pressures.

My Setup is as you have described. Stock Crankcase breather arrangement (with a catch can) and a PCV catch can with a check valve so the can doesn't see boost pressure.

Works a treat.

yeah I know, ive seen na engines with just filters on the rockers blow a fair bit under wot. Just finding it hard to belive that one breather open with vacum from the intake isnt enough but maybe its not in really high boost applications. Be interested to know if that is the case and roughly how much boost you have to be running to get to that point. Also realistically how long do you need to be at wot to build up excessive pressure with an open breather?

Sorta waiting for ralph to jump in and correct me if im wrong lol

well there you go

How are the inside of your cans baffled/packed and where are the inlet/outlets. This info will help gunna design his as I belive there is a bit of a science to the way the cans are designed/packed.

Similar to this, they are monza ls series cans (A guy organised a group buy a while back.) They have a baffle/oil seperator plate and an mesh gauze.

Double R Ron posted some good pics a while back.

lol keif, it is so lame that you hide any posts involving crticisim of yourself that I make...that was also just a genuine question....new feature or did you do it? If its a new feature merging double posts yhat would be cool, be better if it took the edit timer from the most recent post though....
