going to have to get a custom tailshaft made $2000 to suit my engine mods . mall woods was $2300 (would be the strongest ) but I opted for the cheaper option as there is no money left .I am going to get it done at farrows in nambour .maybe $1500 or cheeper if he can use the parts out of the sedan and parts of my v8 shaft .they can get it done for me next week ,if I tilled tray the car up there . it starting to become a money pit now ,but to late to stop now .

this photo shows the new switch so I can turn on or off the thermo fan for the automatic oil cooler (will turn of automatically with the ignition key turned to off ) that is the litle swich neer the ignition barrel . I also had to lengthen all the wires for the fog lights and the traction control button so I could move it to the opposite side of the steering wheel (xt models dash has no cut out

for the switch on the left hand side so I moved it over to the right side P1014790_zpsc9748844.jpg

bov $160

turbosmart hoses and clamps $250

hot side piping $300

rebuild turbo with performance wheel and flapper mod $1450

spark plugs $75

coilpacks $130

radiator hoses $110

radiator $260

aircon condensor -aircon line -dryer -seals -regas -$400

harmonic balancer and new seal $120

sump gasket $25

waterpump $65

gearbox rebuild $2000

earls oil filter $150

battery box self made parts and welding $150

powdercoating (tray) $600

nuts and bolts $100

oils and radiator fluids diff oil gearbox oil powersteer oil $300

kn oil cleaner kit $25

exhaust seals and silicone $50

clark rubber $100

cabling and fusses bulbs $150

oil cooler lines and hose clamps $30

total $7000 plus the things I forgot about

that is without the tailshaft ($1500)or a tune$1100) or mod plate($250) and getting it tilled trayed down to redcliffe $250) , so the engine conversion will have cost me about $10,000 .about $4000 over budget .the wreck cost me $2400 ,and I soled about $3000 of parts of it including the 3v v8 engine and box .was it worth it ,no .was it fun yes ,most of the time .except for rapid systems spoiling the build for over one month .ps the ute has lots of extra parts now like passenger airbag ,xr 6 sound system ,xr 6 cluster ,xr 6 centre console parts and steering wheel ,gear lever ,xr 6 black carpet ,etc . would I do it again yes it is and was a great experience ,and I am very proud of doing most of it my self .lots of people thought I would never get it to were I have it now (only a glazier with limited tools and knowledge )but with the help of two great forums I have nearly made it ,thanks to all that grate advise .

and I did it all in a double garage ,no hoist . jake ,work mate helped me with all the heavy lifting .and none of my mates even helped or offered me a hand .no more free reglazes or shower repairs or fly screen repairs for them ever again .except for gino that soldered 4 wires for me on the wire ring loom . but all the rest I done my self (except the gearbox rebuild and turbo rebuild )

forgot the turbo smart 7 psi actuator $185 and the hoses of ford $40 ,power steer hose $90 . see how easy $300 add up . wow it all ads up very fast

the heat wrap for the exhaust was $70 . heatproof paint 4 cans $60 . the welding of the connector for the bov was $25 . and the list just adds up more and more .better not tell the girlfriend the real amount or she will say ,should have bought a real car ,a Late model camira ss (she owned nothing butt holdens )like a genuine slr 5000 ,sandman panel van ,hz prem,vz ss ute .and what did I buy here ,a mazda 3 back in 2008 brand new in silver . she wants here v8 sound back lol

engine mounts cost me $300 (technico) rated to 1000 hp .so the conversion is well over $10,000 . just lost track of it all .so buying the ute for $12500 -new paint and bonnet $5000 -new suspension $1500 , rebuild diff $3000 . that is about $27000 what this ute has cost me . still have to get 4 new tyres at $200 each . that would make this one of the most expensive 10 year old car I have ever owned .I owned it for 3 years now and have only traveled 20.000 klm in it .

Its going to be seriously awesome but, you have done a commendable job, and the wheel and tyre combo has grown on me as it really completes the sleeper look.

What is the speed rating on those tyres by the way? Just thinking 4th gear dyno pulls...its possible your going to make more power after the retune with the upgraded wheel and if that rapid cooler works well. Some 17's with half decent 245's might be the go for the dyno and the track? Maybe ask lee about it before you head down.

also mate I had a brain wave last night, if you haven't changed that ABS module yet do it. Cause im 99% sure it will fix your vss, limp mode, and your U1900 comms error. Early BA's without TC had Bosch 5.3 modules wich communicate via the ISO bus, TC card with the 8.0 modules its on the can bus. So im fairly sure that's whats going on. Havent looked at a wiring diagram yet but you may have effectively connected a iso module to the can bus which may be causing the comms error. Ive stumbled across this info at different times in the hunt to reverse engineer some more OBD pids. Would be sh*t if you trailer it to Redcliffe and Lee says you need a diff abs module. I haven't 100% confirmed my theory but im 99% and I will double check when I get home and can use a pc.

Gunna I just had a quick squiz at a bosch 5.3abs module diagram, the diagnostic connector uses K and L pins, which is the iso bus not can. So im pretty certain that's your problem.
