Well apparently this thing wasn't that much slower than the v8, apparently

Yeah that would be the 3.5l v6 eco boost which is 270kw and 590nm twin turbo. Tis no slouch. Eco boost mustang might be fun.

Pretty funny that Americans consider that an economical solution to v8's. Seems pretty high performance to me.

Performace wise there is nothing between them, but both have their advantages and disadvantages. Check the FG section on AFF, pleanty of happy EcoBoost owners there.

IMO EcoBoost will have better fuel economy regardless of how good or frugal the 6 may be on the hwy, will drive better and feel lighter due to less weight over front wheels and is a lot quiter all round. Overall the ecoboost will be much cheaper to run, service, register etc and still offer the same performance.

People will argue that there is no replacement for displacement and that that 6cly is better etc etc, but at the end of the day 90% of people on this forum have chosen a smaller capacity forced induction engine over a V8 so go figure.

Few of performance comparison videos to put in into perspective.

XtRmn8 I would think the 6 would be cheaper to service, but more expensive to feed. It doesn't need any fancy oils and really doesn't have much to brake.

Ecoboost does not need any fancy oil, its a DOHC engine just like the 6cly but a lot more efficient.

Check Ford Capped Priced Servicing for cost.

capped price servicing can be a lot of crap

Why is that?

It's a good indication of regular scheduled servicing cost for those people who take their cars to Ford for servicing. Perhaps in the long run parts for the 6cly would be cheaper and maybe easier to get, but from my experiance with non Australian made Fords its never been an issue as they never needed anything above and beyond regular scheduled servicing and regular wear and tear parts such as brakes and tyres.

I have no doubt that scheduled servicing can be done cheaper elsewhere.

The barras been proven to be pretty damn reliable over the years as well.. Million km taxis etc. I wonder if the duratec is as reliable?
