Hey all

I've finally been annoyed enough at a vibration in my driver's side door speaker to chase it up tonight.

They are PolkAudio MM571, sound great but it looks like the factory skimped out on some glue here??

Here's a video proving it's the wire!

My question is...can I use plain old superglue on this thing to beef it up and hold it in place, or do I have to use some sort of special black goop like PolkAudio have...is it a special kind of flexible glue or not?

Worst case scenario, will superglue melt my speaker like it did the nylon carpet in the apartment I used to rent and then had to cut a big chunk out of the thing to make it unnoticeable, pass inspection and get my bond back?

edit...some googling turned up this post elsewhere, I guess this is what I need?

Loctite Black Tak 4105 is used by a lot of manufacturers, Black Tak comes in a kit which is the glue and activator. Its a good idea to practise first as you only need a tiny amount of activator.

Shoe Goo was created in 1972 by Lyman Van Vliet, a 45-year old senior executive at Hughes Aircraft Co.[1] with a degree in physics from Wayne State University.[2]

Ooooh he goo smart make good

Funnily enough I do have holes in favourite shoe soles that let in water so this could be two birds with one laser beam.

What's speakers?

Seriously though, just driving them from after market head unit. You've read my thread, the one I installed with the help of my foot. No external amp OR sub :'(

Shoe goo eh, good idea. Hopefully there's enough length on the tinsel lead so it doesn't just pull off again and start slapping again.. You can rip em clean off driving them too hard. I've done it many times with subs haha.
