Hey all I just had a few quick questions to ask, I recently just purchased an FG and a friend was upgrading his turbo so he sold me his old one (HOLSET), mine is completely stock and I rang up to get a quote on how much it would cost to get this turbo on, the shop I rang said to support the turbo I would need the following mods: .

Injectors, fuel pump, I/C, External Gate, air filter, valve springs, full exhaust, oil lines drain back.

To me this just seems like a lot to support the turbo, If possible I would be happy at the moment to get just the essentials to bolt the turbo on and have a safe tune with room in the future for expansion, your advice would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if this answer has been asked before I tried to search and had no luck with a similar post.

What size turbo, do you have specs? You will find anything larger than stock requires pretty much most of the fuel cooling system to be upgraded

Sorry for the late response the turbo is a HOLSET HX45 pro series it is bigger then the stock turbo and has t4 rear housing. Any knowledge on what mods I would need to safely support this turbo on a safe tune? thanks

The shop u rung is right. The standard turbo is good for 400rwkw with supporting mods. That turbo without knowing much about it will probably be out of its efficiency range at the low boost u want to run anyway. Just to get it to run well to drive u will need a battery relocation, intake, exhaust and a tune. your injectors will then tap out instantly so there next. Then your inlet temps will be supper high so u will need a cooler

What I can find in that turbo its rated to 700hp. that's not huge for having to go new exhaust manifold and all the plumbing.

You would need external gate(maybe), new exhaust manifold, dump pipe, airbox, oil and water lines just to fit it. Big cost when there is upto a 900hp t3 turbo that fits without such mods.

Waste of time IMHO. Sell it on ebay
