hello all

first id like to thank everyone on helping me and everyone else out so much, I cant stress how much this web site has helped me over the years

so ive got a fg xr6t 100xxxklms

mods are turbo back exhaust

injectors

rapidsystems v2 intake and intercooler kit

valve springs

xcal 3 and dyno tune to 303rwkw

ive got a turbo of a low klm f6 (not installed)

ive got the gate ported and new flapper with 12psi actuator

ill have to get a new in tank pump and not go below half a tank ( cause im a cheap ass and cant afford a surge tank and .44 setup)

and a retune to about 16-19psi on 98 im hoping for between 375-400 and once the box is built im hoping for a 10.9 1/4mile with semi's

I was under the impression that a stock f6 turbo could make these numbers but I few mates are saying that ill only get to about 360ish with this turbo , so now im considering getting a .7 front cover for the f6 turbo as well

has any one else done this mod and what do you guys think of my set up

is the new cover necessary and is the time im looking for doable if its not ill be changing the injectors straight up to to 1000cc ones and doing a e85 tune

if this fails to get to the 10.9 ill be doing a e85 tune ( out of a barrel $2.50perL) than I know ill get it

thanks for all the help guys

Iv got the 0.7 cover with a 66mm wheel built by Monsta torque and I'm making 480rwkw on E85 it still has some left in it. With this set up I ran a 10.755 but that was with a little bit of wheel spin. Was hoping to head down tonight again but it'll be rained off. On 98 I made 410rwkw on 17psi and I couldn't get it into the 10sec (only tried one night)

Hey mate
I wouldnt bother with a .7 cover unless you plan on going a bigger wheel
I went an 11 blade billet wheel compressor wheel from kinugawa on a 3540 with the wastegate port and flapper done

I made 363rwkw on 98 on a brutal dyno and I will be taking it to the drags soon on 98 to see how it runs
As for the surge tank (this will be a really unpopular opinion on here) but I dont recommend them unless you are running huge power, for me they are way to noisy (especially the 044s) and add alot of complication to the fuelling system
A walbro 460 with a Reg would suffice at your power level

I run the kpm 1000hp intank fuel pump and its perfect for my car (413rwkw on E85 and handles it without an issue)

Surge tank is cheap insurance, most people use them because they are tried and tested and proven that you need one. I will admit the 044 pump is very noisy but there are many other options of pumps out there that are been used

I would hardly call a surge cheap

I'd never tell anyone not to get one but I really don't see the point at 400rwkw it isn't really necessary and most people still use the original pump feeding the surge

It's just 2 pumps that could fail now and if either one does die it'll still cause massive issues

I like it quiet and simple and nothing underneath my car

If you go a surge I'd go twin walbro 460s

Much quieter than the 044

Each to their own I suppose

Plenty run them

Plenty don't

Just do your research into what you want from your car and go from there

He means its cheap insurance, as in buying a surge is cheaper then your engine running lean, blowing up and then having to rebuild it.

I really just don't understand the fanaticism with surges in our taxis

I know what he's trying to say but people who use the oem fuel pump and one single 044 or 460 run just as much of a risk if not more so of running lean and blowing up.

If the oem pump goes it's still gonna run out of fuel, it'll just take a little longer

Surges are great for high horsepower track warriors but as a Streeter, what's the point?

Yes yes "insurance" but is it really that much safer?

I don't think so

But that's my opinion

OP should do what he's comfortable with, I'm just saying there is alternatives out there

I wouldnt run 400+ kw without a surge tank. The stock setup is poorly designed and is easy to see how it would struggle to supply adequate fuel for much higher than stock hp... given people have fuel supply issues simply on low tanks I think its a must do mod. Having said that, aesthetics aside paying $1000 for a small tank, fittings, and a $150 pump is excessive. Race car engineers have been building surge tanks for years, theres no unique needs for an xr6t.
