G'day, I'm after some feed back from those who know as to which car to buy.

Car 1;

2005 Bf(I think) F6 Typhoon manual 165,000kms, unmodified, known history(a good mate) mech very good ,colour is yellow.

Everything works as it should except A/C which he thinks needs re-gassing(a bit worried bout that one).

It has some rust in the bottom of bootlid otherwise body and paint is very good.

Interior is very good (not leather)

Clutch replaced about 20,000ks ago

Rear bushes done and tailshaft centre bearing replaced recently.

My mate has owned this car most of its life.

PRICE $10,500

Car 2;

2008 FG XR6 Turbo 6 speed auto 145,000kms, unmodified ,known history(my brother inlaw)

car is in immaculate condition, everything works colour is elec blue

Leather interior in excellent condition

Body perfect

My brother inlaw has owned this car most of its life as well.

PRICE;$9,500

Ok this is my problem which one cause I like both for different reasons and whichever I buy it will be a keeper for a very long time.

I have been a Ford man since I was a kid(I turn 50 this year) and this is my first modern Ford(I also have an XA hardtop that I've owned for along time).

I do all my own mech work and am not scared of modern stuff!

I sort of lean toward the F6 cause I've always liked them and think they maybe a classic in years to come but the FG maybe easier to live with because its auto and newer.

I may do some minor upgrades in the future also.

Any opinions would be much appreciated as I'm doing as much research as I can and this Forum has been very good, THANKS.

Oh no! This is going to turn into another great bf vs fg debate AND auto vs manual debate in one thread...

They are both great cars so go for the one you like the most.

But I'm with Aaron, I'd go for the typhoon. Not that I'm biased or anything

Thanks guys, yeah mates rates and family rates are great when you can get em!

I can't believe I was offered both these cars within a day, it's not really a problem just a dilemma!

I'm with you guys in that I like the earlier body shape of the F6 but realise that the FG is the smarter buy.

I like muscle cars and the Typhoon dose it for me where as the FG looks a little soft!

My wife usally has some input but all she has to say is she would prefer the auto but hates leather seats, so yeah not much help there.

I live in the country so the manual is no prob day to day.

I suppose it comes down to the fact the F6 needs a little work and the FG needs nothing.

Is the bootlid rusting out at the bottom a common issue as we seem to think that maybe water is leaking thru the holes where the spoiler bolts to the bootlid?

And I seem to recall reading some dramas with A/C on both these cars, you think it"s just a regas or more serious?

Cheers and thanks again

At the end of the day anything with an FPV badge is going to worth more than a non FPV vehicle. A/c problem could be as simple as a regass . More than likely has a minor leak at a join or a pinhole in the condenser.
