It's not crucial to have an RPM pick up but it is beneficial if your having boost drop off problems or want to hook up a shift light. You can adjust the boost for small mods to save you getting the tune touched up.

The ecu's deal with it through the bosch bleeder on the actuator. There are predefined boost maps in the ecu that calculate all sorts of things, as well as compensation calcs in the KAM. Might be more hassle than its worth.

If you try and throw too much boost in then it codes will come up, or might even go into some sort of limp mode, but if your using it so you can run the boost that it has been tuned for and then another setting which is lower then, you shouldn't have a problem.. My 2cents anyway
