Guest zerorespect Guests Posted 12/02/03 06:01 AM Share Posted 12/02/03 06:01 AM do not forget gentlemen that turbos use the engine oil for cooling/lubricating the turbo in addition to the motor - hence why the xr6t takes 7odd litres of oilbecause the oil is being used to cool the turbo it will blacken and become polluted much quicker than the same engine oil in a n/a vehicle. the oil will be absorbing a lot more heat than that inside an n/a.the general rule of thumb is that all turbo cars require oil changes at at least 5k km intervals. in addition if you take your car onto the track you should consider changing the oil immediatly and adjust the servicing schedule appropriatly.as I'm yet to see any topics regarding turbo timers or oil coolers may I suggest very carefully that if you intend to keep the car for a long time pay the extra money and change the oil & filter every 5k km like the owners of most other turboed cars.synthetic oil will provide you with better protection at higher temperatures (ie. it doesn't degrade to black sludge as readily as natural oil when exposed to heat) - I will be changing to synthetic at 8k km (5k km after the 3k km checkup). I think ill stick to the ford spec oil. so much for the $100 experience with the synthetic my mother cant even use it for her cooking now

I'm not knocking Shell but I think the Castrol R has the reputation as far as synthetics are concerned.

If it does what they claim it would be worth the extra money.
