That's an important point - however , insurance doesn't seem to high on the list of boxes requiring ticking for many young drivers - understandable . That said , it's true Turbo Cars are experience to insure compared to say the GT - Much like a Nissan Patrol requires shares in a Gina Rinehart Roy Hill Iron Ore Project to insure compared to other popular 4WD's ...Insurers have worked out drivers + turbo = claim , so they hit you hard - younger driver , the hit is harder .

wow you're defensive! What's wrong? Spent 5k modding your manual and still getting chopped by stock fgs?

Actually no.

Same argument always happens,

" don't get manual because there slower over the qtr than autos"

It's the only point you auto guys come up with, like I said he might want to do track work where the manual will be better, not all about straight line you farking inbread.

Did enjoy the references to Impellor's posts there Pazzo :)

Manual would be more involving and rewarding for sure. Auto great for lazy commuting and also maximum performance in a straight line.

Also you CAN rev match/blip throttle on downshifts yourself with the ZF, I do it all day erryday, especially 3rd to 2nd rolling up to lights. Causes a nice burble as the engine braking starts. Or get it spot on and you don't feel the downshift at all.

Negative of the ZF is the drone zone 1500-2000rpm it loves to stay in. I avoid it with manual mode, again ,all day erryday. I only ever use D/S modes for the first 2 minutes of a drive in the morning if I'm a bit of a zombie.

I also read up that the ZF gearbox can go out pretty quick once you start pushing 350kw?

I ran mine stock to 100,000km then 320 odd rwkw for another 100,000 before getting a rebuild, but it really should have been done much earlier, probably at 150,000km. I'm told by the tuner that it was a shambles and amazing that it still went down the drag strip it was so burnt out on the clutch pack materials (basically metal on metal) hahaha.

It's taken a long time but it's finally shifting really nicely again most of the time. Just 1st to second is a bit clunky and "loose" but could be the rest of the driveline is 230,000km old and standard...just don't let it get really worn. As soon as it stops shifting gears under WOT (3rd to 4th for me in particular) get it fixed!
