Over the years , and still to this day, I constantly get ribbed , about having a "car" in the garage (over the years they 've all been my weekend pride and joy drives) , and driving the daily sh*tter .. As Aaron stated it's a four cylinder sh*tter that owes me nothing except insurance and fuel... I service it and it gets a wash maybe every quarter(lucky if)

I love driving it as I don't care where it is parked , and whether some clown runs a shopping trolley against the panels (that is , I don't care if I don't see them do it).

I do missing driving my pride and joy , however, I would be unreconsolable if some clown was to mark it ...I hear you say, as do my family and friends , it is a car... However, it's not me looking after it that I don't trust - it's the clowns whom care very little about the belongings of others that worries me.

The greatest argument , has been "life is too short, enjoy the things you love whilst you can". I must say I agree , with that point of view , however, they don't feel and see the smile when I drive the bat mobile on that special occasion.

It's who I am , and for me, yes to a daily sh*tter... However, I am sure as others have pointed out , mathematically it makes no great sense to own two cars, but then again , how do account in $ for the size of that smile on that special drive...

Don't know the feeling of waiting so long to drive it and finally getting to. I do imagine it would be like when you haven't busted a nut for like 2 weeks and finally you get down and dirty and it just about makes you pass out? Would be pretty special. Almost like when I first bought it.

I just can't stand not driving it though!!

My BA is a few thou off 200,000kms.. its really feeling its age. I haven't had a single major issue with it apart from a hole in the radiator, which isn't major at all. She has done well, plus its only running 250rwkw's which helps..

So now I'm thinking of ways to make it more fuel efficient, which the most part comes down to how I drive it, but if I fit an exhaust which is the biggest restriction right now hence only 250rwkw, freeing that up would it be better?

Intake and cooler is Nizpro and over kill for my power so not much to free up there? Going to the extreme would be a plenum but can't justify the $$$ cause I'm prob gonna upgrade down the track.

So exhaust and retune, maybe even do a 91 tune while there, but will need an Xcal 3 as I'm still on the Xcal1... Don't really want too much more power cause the car will fall apart at its age lol..

I was in this same predicament early last year. I took on a job that involved driving over 120+km a day, plus carrying various tools and products. To me, it was a no brainier to buy another sh*tty 4 burner as a daily/work car.

I bought a 1990 kf laser tx3 for $700. Having owned one as my first car, I already knew how great these little cars are.

Insurance is $300 a year.

Servicing every 10k is $40. Parts cost fark all.

My driving is half highway (but for anyone who knows the monash freeway, some days you can struggle to get it past second gear), and half inner city driving.

My fuel economy in the laser is 6-7l/100km, in the typhoon it's 12-14l/100km.

I have driven 34000 trouble free kms in the laser since I bought it a year ago. If you work out the cost in fuel for 34000kms at an average of 6.5l with 91 being roughly $1.50/l, it equates to approx $3,315. Do the same equation for the typhoon with 98 being roughly $1.70/l, it works out to be $7,514. So in my case, I have saved $4,199, which easily balances out the costs of buying, insuring and maintenance of the daily.

Saving money however was second on my priority list. The feeling of driving the typhoon after being in the laser all week is what really makes it worthwhile. I won't go into this though because I think 'spinning' and 'SteveR' have already hit the nail on the head.

You should try a Laser TX3 Turbo Phoon58. Same parts and fuel cost, but 100kw stock in a car that weighs 1000kg. I've had a few in my time!

a tx3 turbo wouldn't have sh*t on the typhoon.

I strongly disagree with that. I've been in a ke that had a boost leak, had the boost wound back, holes in the manifold, the worst most putrid fuel you've ever seen, a half blocked fuel filter & f me that thing was quick for 212 wheel kw
