Newbie - Fg Gs 5.0 Versus F6 (Which Offers Better Platform For Bolton

Hi all,

im a new member and would appreciate some feedback or guidance.

I am looking to purchase either an FPV F6 or GS 5.0 and wanted to know how each car stacked up when modified all the way to the level where the oem turbo/blower run out off flow?

I would ideally like to see the dynos for both models with a standard engine and turbo/supercharger.

I will also be purchasing the six speed zf unless the manual is a better option for both/either models?

Lastly, has anyone have any info on the shacker option for the GS models and if they offer anything other than asthetics?

If you are looking at buying new then you dont have much time left as both are down to last few weeks of build from what I understand. There are only a handful of cars to come down the production line, followed by the limited edition GTs and that will be it for FPV.

There is no V8 shaker option from factory. There is an aftermarket option for this I beleive.

With regards to comparison it really depends on what it is you want. Are you looking at new or are you looking at building soemthing to a budget? The guys here on the Turbo forum will tell you the F6 is better and the V8 boys over at Australian Ford Forums will tell you the V8 is better.

I suggest you need to do a bit of reasearch and reading as this topic has been covered a 1000 times before. You also need to read AFF as that has a lot more info on the V8s.

It all depends on what you want and what your budget is. The F6 is a much nicer base package compared to the GS and with minimal mods can be made to go very very well.

On the other hand the GS has a stonking V8 in a lower spec car. I beleive that the V8 tune only will make a lot of power but both cars would be pretty even in therm of 1/4 mile times if you are looking at the basic tune only mods.

Going by what I've only read, the V8's get great numbers with minimal mods, but the Turbos are generally quicker, but hey with a decent wallet anything can be faster..

Turbo 6 has big mid range shove but the Bent 8 has extreme top end pull. Both are different but both are fun. The big 6 sounds like a vacuum cleaner at revs were the Bent 8 sounds awesome.

Having just moved up to an FG MK2 GT from an FG MK1 XR6T they're very different feeling cars. For me, my GT feels much more refined and less raw than the turbo did. The Miami really is a smooth and refined engine to drive, much better throttle modulation with the blown 8 compared to the lightswitch power delivery of the turbo 6. The turbo delivery is addictive and fun, and will feel faster to the butt dyno because of that sudden rush of torque down low. Guess it depends which you prefer.

My advice is to have a drive of both and buy the one that gives you the biggest boner ;)

^^^^^^^^ What the all said.Very valid and positive comments for both cars. In the end put your arse in both cars and drive them. Both are very good platforms to work with.
