Just wondering how the "bolt on" plenums that nizpro/process west/plazmaman offer as well as the ones that replace the runners entirely like the snort and hypertune units compare to the stock FG turbo inlet manifold. Clearly they were a big advantage over the trusty BBM, but I dont recall seeing many (if any) FGs running aftermarket jobs.

I see the nizpro tuned fg that ran 9.4 still runs the fg manifold so clearly they work very well even with big power. Is there any advantage going to an above mentioned aftermarket manifold at all? If so what are the real world advantages of them more so than hypothetical?

If there is anyone, would be good to hear from someone who has a b-series and swapped from an aftermarket to an FG manifold too.

A drag car and a street car are set up differently. I know Simon runs an Nizpro plenum on his FG. On a street car low down torque is more important that peak horsepower. I know when I swapped from STD manifold to Nizpro on BA BF there was substantial increase in midrange torque.

I cant comment on the FG.

Yeah ive read people had huge improvements over the old BBM, but ive read similar when people switched to an FG manifold. Be curious to hear from someone running one the short runner ones like snorts too

Yeah well I guess that's answers most of my questions, they're as good or possibly better lol. I was hoping somebody might have run both though so could have some technical info on how they performed, or which ones reach what limitations at what point. The bolt on plenums are huge and look great but was curious how they go vs the smaller plenum and shorter runners of the fg manifold.

Plenums, the big boys have the goods. No small logs for these guys.

The gallardo needs a barra swap. They do look good, and I would have thought a dirty log with a TB in the middle wouldnt suffice but they seem to work on these engines. When I first saw it I thought it was some dody aftermarket job lol. Its a bit reminiscent of the manifold my ultra torque RB20 used to sport back in the day when people were moving the TB from the middle and welding it on the end. Was good for keeping those rear cylinders running lean lol.

Yes , BUT an N/A engine draws the charge were as the turbo's is forced in. You would assume the forced charge would give a more even air distribution.

The manifolds that were getting chopped like that were on turbo cars. I never did mine as there were too many stories of serious leanout issues which made sense as the plenum was never designed to be used like that. All good though, gone are those days where aiming for 250rwkw was massive and torque was conveniently left out of all but a few conversations.

Sounds like I might have to keep an eye out for an FG inlet manifold. Love how neat they look, looking at the FG that ran 9.4 its incredible how stock the whole engine bay looks.

I too noticed the increase in torque fitting a plazmaman plenum to my BF.

Makes sense if going for decent power on a B series, Removes alot of piping, looks great, increases torque, makes getting to the coils/plugs easier.

I only got mine as it was cheap in a kit. I was also open to the idea of an FG turbo plenum.
