Hey guys

I know most of you one here are very big fans of coyote and even bigger fans of the barra but my mate is looking into getting a MK1 Fg Gt and going to heavily modify it,

He is going a full suspension overhaul (superpro bushes & coilovers), Brand new diff and tailshaft with an upgraded box to suit, and will be doing the engine up as well.

Now believe it or not he reckons money doesnt really bother him (wish I had that luxury) and before everyone says its a boat anchor wondering if its better to use the 5.4

As he is willing to supercharge the 5.4 and do heaps of work to it is it a better base or is the 5.0 better to start with?

Look, nothing beats cubic inches but Miami is a better base for easy 400+ take. After that both engines will cost money to go on. I personally prefer the 5.0 and spins easy up in the revs. 5.4 is based on f truck bottom end with long stroke. I've been in a modified 5.4 centrifugal supercharged and was average. Whipple would probably be better option on 5.4

Ratter will probably answer the question better.

Yeah thanks guys

Lot of info on that other forum

I'll go through it soon

Seems like the 5.0 is the go but I've always liked the 5.4

Sort of the underdog and it sounds pretty amazing too

What's the limits on the coyote with stock internals

I know of one miami example that was pushing well into the 550rwkw on stock engine.

It did break a ring around those numbers thou .it was running a Ken bell blower.

I think he only wants around the 500 mark so it should be an interesting few months sorting it all out

We used to spin my BA 5.4 to 7000 when we were racing it unopened, the boss 5.4 is known as a slug, normally by people that have no idea. I presently have a FG 5.4 but are going to leave it stock and put my money towards a S/C 5.0.

Yeah true mick

I owned a ba xr8 and while it wasn't as quick as the T it certainly sounded amazing and wasn't slow by any means

Probably end up with the coyote

Anyone know of supercharger upgrades to the coyote?

I tried to find the kenne bell one but they only had Em for the 5.4
