I guess I'm with others that think 1000$+ is a lot for basically a container and a fuel pump.. I know theres more to it obviously, but the 'normal, not so car minded' person would see it as this, then you smack on a $1000+ price tag on it. If there was a cheaper option just as good they would make a killing, but if there was a cheaper option just as good it would have come out by now right?

All good I just wanted to see what else was out there. Might only be a few hundred but I can just think of other areas the money can go into over a surge tank, In all honestly its one of those things I care the least about outside of its functionality... Having said that it needs to function 100% so there needs to be a balance, hence the middle ground thing. With any luck I'll pick up a second hand one before the car is on the road and problem solved!

All good mate but how much do you value your time?

Option 1 buy name brand surge costs you say $800 and instructions to fit, even someone that isnt mechanically minded fits it in an hour or so.

Option 2 you go spend hours finding un named parts that cost you say $500 then you spend a day putting it together and fitting it whilst ducking off to the shops to pick up the parts you have forgotten, a bit of a hastle but you would have a good feeling of accomplishment.

Personally for the sake of a few hundred dollars I like Option 1, the time and headaches I saved fitting option 1 I could have put in a days overtime, played with kids (if you got them) or had a heap of beers.

I guess it depends whats available and at what price. Am I willing to pay $950 for a new tank & fittings with a $200 pump? Not really. Why? Like I said there are just other areas id rather spend the money on when you start talking about a name and aesthetics on a part you really never see. Its different when it sits proud in the engine bay or a boot mounted tank which I wouldnt run.

I have nothing against the tanks, or the companies that make them. Id happily have one in the car if I picked on up second hand for the right price. Ive got a PW plenum so again nothing against branded gear. I was just hoping someone made a good working pump/tank setup that skipped the majority of aesthetic design all the ford ones ive seen have in an effort to keep the costs down - no different to whats available for other cars. If not I'll see what I can get one made for or just sit on it till I find a second hand one, no biggy.

Why not just use an upgrade in tank fuel system.

The use of surge tanks is becoming outdated with correctly manufactured intank units utilising proper pump sizing and swirl pot size.

No noise ,No smells , no hassles , direct fit and 100%Legal .

Every customer we have converted over to performance intake fuel system will never look back at surge tanks.

This is even on 10 second 1/4 mile vehicles.
