Thought Id start a thread on this heapa' that I picked up to try save some money by not continuing to throw money into the FG…. well wasn't I wrong. Picked up a Ba MK11 auto with 105000km, little rough around the edges but nothing I thought was an expensive/difficult fix. after the 5 hour drive home, I decided to have a decent look over the car.

Oh f**k.

On further inspection the front bar that had just been 'hit with a rabbit' and 'just a little crack' that was under 30485 layers of gaffe tape turned out to be a replacement bar and me having to straighten part of the sub chassis ( the sheet metal part on the front under the headlight ) there was heaps of surface rust in places that I couldn't see on the quick inspection that I've had to sand and re paint in the engine bay. It'll stall sometimes when starting or dropping into gear, which I assume is just the tune ( which is dogsh*t might I add )

Other things Ive had to fix/replace:

* gauge cups are cracked

* the wiring for the gauges was beyond dodgy, think wires shover in the front of the fuse box and a fuse shoved over the top

* cd player doesn't pay cd's

* one taillight/license plate light was out.

* bulb holder in headlight lense was broken

* intake to the turbo wasn't even tightened

* mirror was broken

* E boost was wired up horrendous and there was easily 8 or more tee pieces on the vacuum/boost lines.

Needless to say I was ready to drive it down the harbour and leave the handbrake off. but its now 100% on what it was.

E Boost is out, gauges are out and I'm putting AFR and boost in, new front bar, bob tail spoiler and single din head deck below the ICC.

Next up was fix the IC piping. How the piping works on a stock BA I don't know, and Ford actually did something right with the new top mount inlet manifold and piping arrangement. I used the HDI piping kit and chopped it to pieces to actually get a decent cool side path, and sprayed black for maximum stealth ;)

Before:

During:

After:

IMG_1676_zpsb848e72c.jpg

turbo side will be boxed and sprayed black

IMG_1675_zps573011e5.jpg

battery reflow and 4 inch turbo side intake is also DIY. sounds, looks and runs so much better. Now all I need is a heatsheild for the turbo and to box the intake in. then some black Joiners and the fuzz won't even know its modified.

Next up is gloss black roof wrap, front bar spray, new gauges in and probably wheels or tune. Going to do something similar to this with my fog light holes too

I may as well make a build thread, it might help others with the sh*tfight I've had or give some people ideas :)

Looks like youre booked out for the next few months.

I'll be watching your process

Cheers mate, yeh While I still have motivation to fix it up I will, cause I'm running out of patience quick smart haha. I reckon you can make the B series look super tough, and that's what I intend to do. In hein sight, all the things listed aren't a big deal, just time consuming. Lucky I have a bunch of mates that are all there to lend a hand. We have a boys car mod night of a thursday where we all of mods/fixes and cruise :)

I remember when you first told me about her

Nice to see its coming along

Keep us updated for sure

Yeh mate she was a shocker. Still is, but ill get there. Ill try to update often and explain in detail the problems I come across for Further Reference

Painted the turbo side intake satin black, looks so mcuh better! going to do the IC piping the same colour. Installing AFR and boost gauges today, sending front bar away tomrorrow for paint. If anyone tells you a 4 inch 90 degree joiner wont fit between the front cover of a GTX and the power tserring pump theyre lying!

Great work so far mate !! Very interested to see how the FG flip key works, been looking at those myself... went to the key cutters and they confused the hell out of me on if they could do the cut and frequency change :ermm:

cheer bud, yeh I've been doing a bit of reading. Apparently these are a 'blank' cup as in they can be configured to be any chip, don't know how that works as I know the b series and f series use different chips altogether. we will have to wait and see. Even if its just able to open the car ill be happy, I've already paid $85 to get it unlocked once

Oh yeah ! I saw those blank cups but weren't sure if the original key needed to be used in them... You're right just time to wait and see, hopefully it works ! What colour you going with the caliper paint?

It's called torque and teal, a light teal colour. Would tie in well with the white and black theme! Well I guess anything goes with white right? Rocker cover will be same colour too :)
