I had the F6 in a thousand pieces today trying to fit a saggy front bar after collecting a serious spoon drain.

I knew I was up for bar mounts LH and RH and lost a few scrivets but that's all sorted.

I have found a completely shattered radiator support bar - its broken in 3 places. and whole 6" section on the LHS that ties to the fender is completely missing and I've discovered a bit of dodgy repair work...lots of sikaflex....LOTS of sikaflex

So someones done the dodgy and had a crack at repairing it themselves and left me with a problem - I can't install my new cooler till the rad-support is replaced.

How does this thing come out? is seems to be fused to the metal upper support (where the striker etc attaches) but the whole rad-support is made of a hard plastic.

I would like to do it myself to save the $$$ it will cost to get a crash repairer to do it, I don't wish to make an insurance claim either. But after pricing the parts, its looking bad ($455 rad-support, $300ea for headlights...the list goes on)

Has anyone here ever done it? care to share?

thanks in advance.

The joys of second hand cars. Hope it works out for you. Just have to bite the bullet and get it fixed properly.

Are you aware if its a welding job or not? I'm not confident enough to go welding the thing on.

been searching online for a few hours now..starting to look like I'm parting with $2k for a claim.

Iam not sure, you need to seek a professional opinion, if its expensive claim insurance. BUT its a prior bad repair so they may reject the claim.

If your going with a bigger cooler the PW stage 3 kit has it's own radiator mounts to step it back and make more room for the cooler.

^ already got the cooler, was supposed to put it in yesterday while the bumper was off, but then I found the mess behind the bar. Got my new rad support today. When I get time to fit it I'll take a few photos and notes for reference should anyone else need it, there is nothing online to assist anyone trying this them self.

I had to replace mine and it wasn't expensive to fix, I think the whole unit was like $250 odd then I paid about $150 to get it fitted ( I already had the bumper and attachments off it)

FG radiator supports are combination plastic/metal item. They are spot welded and Mig welded on the skirts and bolted on using large self tapping 12mm bolts through the lower skirts. As a guide your probably looking at around $400 to strip the front end and replace the support plus parts/paint.
