I understand with climate control the temp of the air and the fan speed varies automatically to maintain a set temperature(auto mode), however even when the temp and fan speed are manually set (called semi auto mode), the amount of air will gradually decrease until no air is coming from the vents. When this happens the ICC still displays the air con as on etc, and the fan can still be heard, but there is no air coming through vents.you can change the vents, temperature and fan speed settings displayed on the ICC but still no air will flow. It does not happen immediately, it is progressive and I have only noticed it on longer drives 1hr plus. I regularly travel 5hr trips and will experience it up to 4 times. The only remedy is to turn the air con off, wait ten minutes and then try again. $40,000 and I have to drive in 38 degree heat with windows down! The ICC has been updated and changed twice. I did have a considerable air con compressor leak which has been replaced. It gets better, I have had an occassion when pulling into the driveway and turned the air con off, the ICC says its off but it remained on. I have had the opposite aswell, when starting my ute, the air con has come on with the ICC saying its off.It is intermittent, and takes time to fault, as a result after several trips to the dealership they cant fault it.Any ideas? Also if you turn the whole lot off from the ICC and manually increase just the fan speed, does the air flow happen? If the airflow stops yet you can hear the fan going, then it appears to be a ventilation problem. When the problem happens and while air is flowing is the air still cold? Becasue you seem to be getting inaccurate ICC readings, you certainly have a problem, but if you can hear the fan going and there is no air coming out, then it muct be some sort of vent issue as anything that the AC does does not block the airflow unless the vents are blocked or closed. Try Running on Fresh Mode and 100% Fan Speed on long drives - Is the problem less prevelant in this mode?2. If Answer is Yes - Monitor Vent temp and Check if power to compressor cuts off when vent temp gets close to 03. If answer is No - Faulty evaporator temp sensor, faulty ICC, faulty Relay for A/C Compressor or any fault in circuit that activates and de-activates power to a/c compressor Edited 25/03/14 01:55 AM by Z2TT

I took the battery leads off for 30mins then when I put it back on and restarted it I did the A/C reset and today it was blowing supercool air again. Will be getting a A/C service just to check everything. Edited 25/03/14 02:51 AM by gsd112

Acky Member 6 Member For: 10y 10m 8d Posted 04/04/14 11:34 PM Author Share Posted 04/04/14 11:34 PM Thanks gentlemen for your replies.I can confirm that when it stops blowing, if I turn the AC off on the ICC and then turn the fan on alone, there is still no air coming from the vents (fan noise can still be heard from the glove box side of the dash).I can also tell you that when it is playing up there is still a slight draught that is still cold (you can only feel it if you put your hand on the vent). It is interesting about the faulty battery, I was getting a low voltage message on the ICC on start up, ford tested the battery and said it checked out fine. I replaced the battery myself and have had no more low voltage messages. That was about three months ago, ford won't reimburse me though lol. After six trips to service they could not tell me what the issue was but by disconnecting the battery and re-setting, this would normally fix the issue. From what I understand, the battery they put in these cars is borderline power and if you go to start the car and it drops voltage, the car will turn of peripheral items, Air cond being one of them. If you drive the car, this puts power back into the battery and once you disconnect and re-start, this normally fixes it again. The best suggestion I have is get a Better battery with a higher CCA rating. this is what I did and problem seemed to be solved. At one point I was re-setting the climate control every couple of days. Will be interesting if the XR6 I picked up last week has the same issue.
