G'day guys!

I test drove a G6et a couple weeks ago and I instantly put my vy ss Ute up for sale and hunted for a nice G6et (very hard to find in dealerships) I'm test driving one tomorrow I'm interested in with 117xxxks for 23K.

what should I look for in these beasts?? as I've always had holdens, I know diff bushes can be an issue, how do you tell if they are ok?

Should I wait and try to find one under 100xxxks for around the 25k mark or should one at the many ks still feel/drive ok?

I'd prefer to buy one from a dealer but man is it hard to find a nice one with the beige interior!!

Feel like I been living under a rock not knowing how good these Fg's are haha

Cheers

Welcome to forum and enjoy your stay.

Now that you have been enlighten, hopefully you will convert all your mates as well.

Diff bushes are one of the few things to keep an eye out for. Only way to check it, is to get the car off the ground and take a peak.

Also keep in mind that the G6E do not have LSD. Single pegger as far as I am aware.

I am sure there will be others chiming in, to tell you what else to watch out for.

would they make a rear clunking noise on take off or shudder thru the rev range??

I cant get over the stock performance of them and the interior *drools* the missus is quite happy too, more seats, she can try fill them with babies hahahahaha

After I bought mine I had diff bush done, outside temp sensor and rose joints. I did notice the clunking when getting on and off the throttle on the test drive but was told it is normal for the zf cars and the others I drove did it a bit too. But after a couple of weeks I decided it felt excessive and got the diff bush and rose joints done under warranty. Oh and the god dam glovebox, just like warping and not looking right whens its closed, mine is starting to do this. Also I paid 24k for mine with 84 000 on it twelve months ago. From a Brisbane dealer. You will be up for a zf service at those kays if you have no proof its been done. 100 000 seems to be the norm. Some do it alot sooner and more regularly.

yeh ill be making sure the ZF service has been done on one I buy, the one I test drove was smooth no clunks ect, but was too far away from where I lived (was on a day trip to pick up a new motor for my mates cressida) and was sold the next day, this one im looking at tomorrow has lasted 3 weeks!

first question ill ask is proof the zf box has had its major and if that's a yess ill be looking for cluning on test drive, if that comes up good then iu might be onto a winner!

people prefer full ford service history on their stock G6et purchases?

ive got 2 in mind, one has 117xxxks for 23k n the other has 138xxxks for 19k, auctions hmmmmm sounds a lil risky, id rather get one with something to fall back on (warranty ect). what stage of their life are these motors/boxes at at these sort of ks?? I know in the Ls1's at these k's their still kids (waiting to be slapped around by a sleeping g6et haha), im new to these motors though
