If the unions have there way, it may not even get built. They stated recently that if the Government didnt hand Ford some money, they would shut up shop earlier than planned.

Some articles indicate that the GT - F was only a result of a hand full of enthusiastic staff - spilled over from FPV , whom were able to resurrect some parts . They had endeavoured to get Ford to buy into the development of a final big banger - but Ford had refused citing no money ! Essentially that is why we have a RSpec in a different

badge ... Very Sad !!

My thoughts exactly. I know for a fact the limiting factor in this is the gearbox. The zf is a weak link in the system. to R&D a new box/line would cost maybe??? $2m maybe? by the time it's all counted up. But really, if they wanted to sell cars ongoing, wouldn't it be good to write that cost & more off to ensure theres legacy & interest in product in the future? To me, that $2m of 'dead money' could actually be money quite well spent for future sales. Just my thoughts. I wont buy a ford from offshore after they wrap productuon here.

(I work on a product using a zf6 in development & know of people that work in FoMoCo. $2m to put a real box in it & unleash the torque. Money well spent?)

The euros always run massive power through their zfs it wouldn't cost much

How many of us on here have already done the r&d into what works and doesn't

Ford should have talked to the people who modify them to learn what they really need not just what the bean counters think they need

It wont be a huge problem if you only built a limited number, it's not like every one of those what 500 people are going to absolutely give the car a thrashing non stop. Surely ZF would have a box available to use that would handle the higher power.

Then again the same or similar box is used in the Bentley Arnage that has a 6.75L Twin turbo motor, so surely there can be a ZF Box that can handle big power.

Do you think that those who have purchased the RSpec and GT , will endeavor to move them on to get into a GT-F? ...What are the chances that Ford will drop another final run before the doors are finally closed ? . Some say there will not be another run as Ford will close the doors to production early and we may not even see the XR8 in 335 dress ?

Your thoughts

Theres 2 options in the zf hp8 range. the 55, the 70 & then up to the 80 (refering the repective torques in the 100's) Wouldn't have been a big issue to put them in, would have made for a better car...
