Rage 3" Catback On Fg Xr6T...waste Of Time Or ?

Why don't you get cat welded in and while having that done get mufflers removed. Have flanges put in so you can put them back if needed.

I think I understand the concept a bit better now with the explanation from SteveR and others

...That gives you these numbers assuming I didn't make a typo in the calculator:

3" exhaust

3.14 x 1.5 x 1.5=

7.065 square inches

Stock system - 2x2.25"

2x 3.14 x 1.125 x 1.125=

7.948125 square inches

2x 2.5"

2x 3.14 x 1.25 x 1.25

9.81 square inches

4"

3.14 x 2 x 2=

12.56 square inches

2x3"

2x 3.14 x (1.5x1.5)

14.13 square inches

...it could be pointed out that twin pipes have more internal surfaces even for identical overall flow thus more friction and lower performance but from what I've gathered it is not that big of a deal at our level of air flow. Also assuming the pipes are mandrel bent (smooth internal corners of same diameter as straight sections)...cheapies might be a straight pipe just bent to shape which makes nice creases inside and hurts flow. Like blowing through a straw you folded instead of using a proper bendy elbow one :)

With suitable twin cats a twin 2.5" system will be good for 400rwkw but will be holding things back at this stage a little. The dump and cats are just as important as exhaust if you are chasing performance increases.

Thanks for taking the time to explain it all! Knowing my stingy ass ... I will prob just stick to single 3.5" xforce catback and hopefully it will meet up perfectly with my euro4 catpipe (with balistic cat welded in already)!

Im running an advanced headers dump and cat , it does sit lower than standard .

For me personally I can't see much point in upgrading my cat back exhaust while I still have the standard fg turbo. Im not really interested in making a heap of noise and going slow lol.

Advance headers hey...interesting...always thought that was just an ebay brand or something. ..cant even say its a cheapo brand cause I think its more expensive than xforce gear lol

And yeah I guess I see where you are coming from with the loud exhaust without the power to back it up...but still a little bit of noise is more fun...for me anyways :P

Already have my spare euro 4 cat pipe with balistic cat welded in...plus its been lengthened to suit xforce 3.5" catback (apparently anyways...I haven't double checked yet...but I'm sure the guy I bought it off isn't lying) lol

And yeah good idea about having flanges done so could return to stock...but I feel like I will hate it (like most people do)...maybe it will drone as well and therefore a waste of a couple hundred bux (eastern states people have been saying <$100 for muffler removal mod...but the 4 exhaust shops I've tried have quoted $200+ and warned me that most customers come back a week later to change it cause they hate the sound)....and that money could go towards the proper catback (if I even require it after my first tune)....but I will discuss this with my tuner when the time comes!

Apparently they are made in Australia that's why they are more expensive . Seems to do the job my car runs ok numbers at the track so im happy.

So the moral of the story is that a but plug would be more useful than a 3inch exhaust.

I run an advance Headers dump. Can't fault it.

I think moral of the story is that nothing beats a good dump.
