PS.. I quote from the page..

'The APS design phylosophy is a massive reduction in charge air temperature with minimal pressure drop across the entire intercooler system - result achieved!'

You might need to kick someones arse for the spelling mistakes.. :)

Next question is how much is it worth?  I figure its worth about $400-500 but I've never seen one for sale so I have no idea of the market price.

:ermm:

The intercoolers retail for around $1400, PWR make a 670x630x70 which they designed off a T ute, it bolts in in about 2 hours without chopping into the bodywork, creates only 1 - 1.5 lb of restriction, and has intake outlet on the same side so you lose about 60cm of hose. It's a remove front bumper, bolt in new intercooler, cut and fit existing hoses, put bumper back on car, to fit up. I think the factory intercooler is worth around $500, if somebody wants it. I think they retail for so much because FMC know that over time plenty will have to be replaced by insurance companies.

HEY DOC,

I have now seen the intercooler you mentioned in your post, what a terrible design.

I would be very surprised if the drop in charge air temperature is as good as the stock ford intercooler.

Having the charge air entering and exiting the same side of the intercooler core is not very clever, (cheap to produce) and definitely hurts intercooler performance.

A well desigined intercooler system delivers low pressure drop across the entire intercooler system combined with a huge reduction in charge air temperature. Thought this information might assist you in the future.

I will bite my tongue and be nice to PWR on this public forum, however I had one of the PWR intercoolers installed on my ute yesterday morning and lets just say that it is now on it's way back to Queensland as it was actually more restrictive than the factory intercooler.

This has cost me alot of time and money stuffing around with it, a bit of R&D would be nice boys.

I know they are not the most well liked people on this forum but I big thanks to Nizpro for helping me out and comming to the rescue with one of their intercoolers.

Well there you have it! The best advice comes from someone with experience.

Sorry to hear about all the problems you had.

this Ones for Peter,

Peter can you tell me if you will be selling the intercooler kit as a seperate item to the upgrade packages, like you do with the WRX kits with all piping. Surley there must be some gain from changing the intercooler, I am running 9PSI but before I get any more I want to improve the intercooler and from the looks of it the PWR is SHIIIIT..

Thanks for the reply Peter. One question I have is can this be fitted to a stock XR6T and will it make any difference to its performance?

I guess another question is how much? :-)

Greg.

G'day Greg,

There are to many technical issues to fit a large intercooler system as a stand alone item so we do not intend to go down that path at this time.

The main problem faced from the fitment of only a low restriction (low pressure drop) intercooler system; is the loss of control of turbo pressure which is critical in terms of engine reliability.

Now this fact is only relevant to the xr6t and should not be automatically applied to any other intercooler application. Ford utilise the merely adequate stock intercooler as part of their turbo pressure control system.

Of course if we designed a large intercooler which looks impressive but still has a large pressure drop, you would not see this problem.

Equally this design of intercooler would limit the power output to a much lower figure.

Hi Peter,

Just to clear things up here, as you have read above I got into trouble with the PWR cooler, if I thought I could have purchased one from you being a site sponsor I would have in a heart beat.

The only reason I didn't ask is your mind set on not seperating your kits into seperate components for sale.

I fully understand your reasons for this and respect the amount of effort and R&D you have put into the XR6T. How ever there will always be people out there like me who like to (for better or worse) play with the cars without having a kit that everyone else has.

There would be a market there for you with the intercooler in that sutuation. As I am running xede piggy back set up with 280 rwkw at the moment I could use your cooler as I have the ability to tune the xede to match it. As it stands my tuners turned to Nizpro for their cooler in the end and I thank them for the quick response in getting me a cooler today. If it had have been available from you I would have told them to deal with you. Just some feedback for you and keep up the good work.
