Turbo Flutter/dose. How Damaging Is It Really?

Did 183,000 kms in my bf f6ute with nizpro stage 2.5 kit. It fluttered its arse off. No problemos with at it all.

Currently have a turbo that is 125,000 odd km old and has seen a 15PSI tune since it went on the car. Still working fine and I love love love to make it flutter!

The one that was on the car for the previous 100,000km got a tiny bit noisy and as replaced under warranty...car was stock and previous owner the WA Police until I bought it as 37,000km.

Seriously though it would be a crime to put a bov on this rig as im fairly certain this is old mate doing the 240t into a maverick conversion.

I wanna hear that barra snorkel dose!

I ran my car on 27psi, every day for years which was at the upper limit of the turbo shaft speed and never any bov. Still have the turbo sitting on the bench and all is good.

I think you'll find most of the your turbo will explode, it will backspin your turbo, it destroys your bearings, increases global warming, and the rest of the wanky dramatic theories were pushed by the aftermarket industry who conveniently sold the solution to this catastrophic problem.

Im not a real believer it reduces lag either. Some back pressure on the compressor might reduce the speed of it, but how long does it take to fill the charge pipe/intercooler after most of that air is vented - especially with some of the apartment block sized coolers the ford guys use.

I've had my car dosing for a good 80,000KM have not had an issue.

What you're worried about it True compressor surge. ( dosing while under load and boost ) But having no load on the turbo while it does it causes mostly no issue. The worst it can do it slow the turbo a little more than a BOV would, so it takes a little longer to come back onto boost.

Your turbo does not spin backwards. It does not bend the fins.
