Touch wood, but I am still on my initial stock power steering pump after 236,000kms and 30 circuit days, many with slicks on the front.

It cops a flogging on the track with Wakefield and Marulan having some tight hairpins.

Been using Royal Purple synthetic PS fluid for a while now too which may have helped.

Something else must be wrong with your car, fluid or driving technique.

How long are you leaving full lock on when the pump in stressed the most?

Yeah my BF is at 225,000km with original pump...and fluid...have only topped up fluid (naughty)...

I was told by the old man not to hold it on full lock on earlier cars so maybe that's helped. I love to corner too, but have never done so on a track, only roundabouts or 90° turns off of 100kmh roads etc.

Depending how long ago it was replaced I'd be pushing for warranty again.

The new pump should have its own warranty outside the expired new car warranty.

yeah thought that would be the case since that's when it went the first time.. but when its gone this time I was no where near full lock maybe half turns each way and only reving to maybe 5000 rpm at most.. guna try push for parts warrenty on the pump though eln ford have been far from helpful with any of my other issues but ill give it a shot :rant2:

If the original pump was replaced whilst under warranty, the new pump should be covered for a full 12 months parts and labour warranty too.

Check your invoice.
