Hi all

Got a problem with my ba xr6t I've done some looking around but can't find any post/threads with same symptoms only similar .

So here it go's started with a small miss at idle witch turned it a bad miss at all rpm. Neve happens when cold and it comes and go's .

I got the computer read, running lean.

I track the miss down to number 1 then number 5 injectors not working, that's obvious the start of the firing order too. I'm assuming there is no signal to those injectors when the miss comes on .

One thing I do plan to check is that it hasn't jumped a tooth on the timing chain.

Any other ideas of what could be causing this?

Engine has 135xxx ks on it.

Cheers.

I'd start buy pulling the plugs and having a good look at them (post a pic up here) and then swap the coils between cylinders to see if the fault moves.

If the injectors are indeed dropping out the likely cause it a dud driver in the ECU. Do you have access to test equipment to check for injector firing?

Hi. Ralf.

I've already fitted new plug and tested coils by swapping coils to different cylinder made no difference.

My diagnostics tools were limited to a screwdriver, one end to the injector other to my ear can clearly hear other injectors firing and not 1 and 5. But when engine runs good can hear 1 and 5 firing .

Cheers.

Ok good idear. No I dont have a wiring diagram, I'll have a look and see if I can find one on the net.

I'm going to pull the engine out soon so I will go over the wiring as you suggested .

Thanks Ralph.

I found my dud coil the other day by leaving the car idling and unplugging 1 thing at a time until I found the plug that made no difference when unplugged. Started at coils plugs then was going to move onto injectors. Only need to take it off for a second or 2 and you'll notice str8 away.

I wouldn't pull the engine out till you sorted it out. There is nothing worse than putting an engine in, chasing gremlins and wondering is it the original problem or a new one that was created.

Hi turbotrana

I hear what you are saying and agree, but... I will probably pull it out anyway.

I'm putting it into a Cortina so I will have to go through all the wiring anyway, I will be deleting everything that's not necessary in the loom , abs, traction control, trans etc haven't looked into the wiring side of things much yet , will cross bridges as I get to them .guess the computer will need reprogramming too.

Just looking for people's opinions of what to look for with my engine miss and hopefully get it sorted before I fire it up in its new home.

Some pic to jazz up the thread . the corty it's going in, I'm leaving it as it is just a tidy up. Condition pretty good, only has 154,xxx ks on it , though it's spent the last 6 year's in the weather .

And my poor ba, yes the missing problem was there before the accident .
