Wastegate Acutator

hi lads,

I've got a leak in my factory wastegate on my ba xr6t. Most frustrating thing in the world, the damn thing overboosts when pressure is applied to the throttle and I have to pull over and wait, also rumbles like a **** in idle. Mods in my car include high flow exhaust, turbosmart 38mm adapter and vee port bov, braided oil line and cold air intake. I have no plans of tuning the car to anything more than the current 7psi as it's just too expensive.

Speaking of expensive, I have already sourced the replacement actuator (turbosmart bolt on replacement 7psi spec) and was ringing around trying to find someone to install it. So I called john at intune motorsport as he is fairly local to me. After giving him the details of the job he quoted me $550! To replace a wastegate!?! I was shocked. I queried why he thinks that fee was appropriate but he never responded...

From what I understand the turbo doesn't even need to be removed from the engine mount, it's just a matter of getting to it via removing the intake pipes and heat shielding etc. So why so much? Can anyone recommend someone that can help me with this job?

(sorry if this is in the wrong place, admins feel free to move :busted1: )

Get a quote from another shop that deals in these cars, You might have to drive further but it may be more beneficial for you.

+1

The tuners that advertise here have really good reputations. Wouldn't go anywhere else and well worth the drive.
