Also did a hell good clutch burnout today so will be getting the xtreme HD twin plate I think, what are people's thoughts on it, anyone have one?

Not yet but will be getting Western Clutch at St Marys to fit one in my ute after I get tailshaft issues sorted.

Twin plate organic that is

It's not the top shelf option out there - think NPC etc - but is a helluva lot cheaper and heard some good things about it on this forum and elsewhere

What tailshaft issues have you had and what path are you taking to sort it out? Cause I'm planing to do my tailshaft after clutch but not sure wether to get a whole new one built or just get standard one modified.

My mates got the HD twin plate in his F6 and I've driven it a bit but he didn't get to test it for long before he blew his oil pump gears and seized his motor! I liked the clutch from my limited driving with it, it wasn't as bad as some people make it out to be on here imo and it gripped so hard, that's why I was thinking HD just cause I've driven one. By organic do you mean ceramic? Because I noticed the ceramic one is about $100 cheaper, do you know what the difference in lifetime and drive ability is between the two? I'd get the ceramic if it's similar.

Tbh apart from the fact the driveline was starting to feel a bit sloppy, didn't have any until I got a Gibson built shaft installed, which was more preventative maintenance than anything else

The Gibson shaft felt great as far as being more direct and no slop, issue was that it was vibrating like a bitch under load and also at higher road speeds regardless of load

I played around with different height centre bearing spacers +5 - -5mm which CMS had used to make them work before but no go

CMS ended up sending it back to Gibson, apparently it's been sorted now and spacers needed they've decided it needs are another 20mm longer than supplied....hmmm!

So we'll see this week hopefully, driving around with the stock shaft atm

What power level was he at?

When you say HD you mean heavy duty I take it... which they use to describe both organic and ceramic, totally different materials

Ceramic will take more abuse, whereas organic has better street manners

Can you ask him which one he had?

If he had the ceramic and you reckon it wasn't that bad I'd be tempted...since can take abuse and of course a bit cheaper

Hopefully they get it sorted for you, I think I'll probably go down a similar track, the stock shaft just feels so rubbish and doesn't fill you with confidence to give it a boot full, especially in a manual.

My mates was the heavy duty ceramic and I found it ok, was a bit sh*tty if you were tiered or lazy haha but wasn't that bad, I found it really hard to release the pedal when your rolling (like coming up to a red light, clutch in, then light changes before you stop and your still rolling in say 2nd gear then to let it back out again there is zero slip haha it just bites so hard) but apart from little things like that it's dealable

Oh and he had about 350rwkw, but also had 20% under drives and that wouldn't have helped the pump gears, he also has a heavy right foot! We could hear a rattle for a while and he had his car into numerous shops trying to id the noise but no one could, ended up being that!

Yep stock shaft feels like somethings's about to drop it's guts on a hard 2-3 or 3-4 change

Funny thing is, met vevapower in at CMS the other day, day after he ran 9.86, think he's running about 560rwkw and he's still on stock CV's...!!!

Shaft itself got re-tubed in chromoly ages ago but that's it

Fact it's it's an auto would make a big difference though I reckon...sedan as well

Considering the ceramic now ay lol.... I'm no NVH princess and can handle a bitchy clutch if it can handle abuse lol

though prob never venture into the CBD ever again

Yeh I think it comes down to luck of the draw as well haha but yep auto would make a pretty big difference.

If your ok with a bitchy clutch I reckon go for it then, you'll be fine. The drivability wasn't really an issue for me it was more the rattle. People who know nothing about cars must think your cars about to blow when clutch is in haha. I just was interested in the lifetime of them cause like I said my mate only got to test his for about 2 months before his engine went. He's going atomic motor now with a gtx42 so that will be a good test for it when it's done haha

Cars booked in next week to get an xtreme twin plate ceramic clutch plus earls oil line and a couple of other little bits and pieces. Stock clutch is done, pretty keen to see how it feels with the new one
