hi all my fg ute just made 301kw on 15pound but I was expecting a little more was told that its not holding boost and droping down to 10 pound bit disappointing after doing a fair few mods and not really maxing out the turbos potential mods are

pw stage 1 cooler with piping and muffler delete

pw surge tank

pw fuel rail with 1000cc id injectors

turbosmart fuel reg

venom cat

the car does feel faster down low to early mid range but up high not much better than when it was stock should I do the flapper mod and run a 12psi accuator what are your thoughts guys

Did the guy who tuned it give a reason as to why it wasn't holding boost or what was holding it back?

Did he say the flapper and actuator would be the next step?

I was just told that all turbos react different then was told instead of doing flapper mod was better of with a different turbo one that they can supply

Who tuned it and what turbo did they advise that they supply?

I realise that but is it normal to drop 5 pound a few pound I can understand but 5 major loos of power im thinking of doing the flapper mod with accuator and taking to another tuner as wasn't really happy with overall service also is it normal for the car to idle rough on cold start for the first 30seconds or so

do the actuator for sure. I have a turbosmart one and it makes the little turbo hold boost nice. mine had a issue with it and so the stock one got put back on. the psi curve was totally different. have you got a dyno graft to put up with the psi graft. turbosmart one back on and its awesome again.:D

No, it can idle a tad higher but still smooth

You will find with with the standard turbo that you will get no sensation of a top end if your smashing my date in early because once you get to around 5000rpm its out of it efficiency range . So if your driving in auto and just put your foot to the floor it will feel very flat because your spending too much time in the top of the rev range. Try shifting manually ( im assuming its a zf 6 speed) at 5000rpm .

But then again the small turbo on 98 can feel pretty gay , so go and get an e85 tune lol.

Post up your dyno graph and who tuned it
