I've heard a bit about but can't find much on it, has anyone done this with 3.23 or 3.45 gears. I know it would make first even shorter and cruising rpm would rise a few hundred rpm. Is there any benifeit especially with 1/4 mile times.

I think a couple of guys tried it not long after the ZF cars came out to try and improve drag times but 1st gear is so short it was not very successful on the strip. They kept banging the limiter almost immediately after getting started.

I found some good info on it on the net. People say after some practice with 1st in manual mode its defiantly worth it and fuel economy and cruising doesn't suffer. I may as well give it a go, if I don't like it I can always change back.

Been informed from Dave Blueboost that the 3.23 is a great mod to do if installing a different LSD TruTrac etc to lower 60s..

His tune deletes first gear from auto/performance mode all together and is only available when manually selecting in manual mode..

would probably do it myself but the ratio package is very overpriced for what it is essentially :/

the commy TruTracs come with the ratios for pretty much the same price as what we pay for the TruTrac alone :(

I belive qik1 had 3.7's in his for a bit and said it was pretty hopeless....he is running 1000hp mind you....

Also gun I think Vt-vz ran an m86 centre so wouldnt the gears be the same?

They may have mate im not sure..

going off the site I have here with TruTracs the VL-VT1 used a 28pline job so maybe the VT forward is different and they dont list a model for them..

Its more the newer Commies that have the stuff that is half the price as Ford bits..

the VE its says has 32 spines..

Hmm may be worth investigating further but if we could use the same centre and gears and its just a pricing stitch up surely somebody would be onto that by now so their may he a minor difference. I havent double checked but I think our cars are 30 splines
