I have to humbly apologise for the call, I misread your post.

You can fit a 9" front legally though. RIP85 has 9.5' +20 on the front, that means a 9" +26 would fit as would a +25 and +24, all 3 being legal

my front has 36mm more track than factory so I'm screwed

I graciously accept your apology :)

Just re-read your comment, isn't the view from above rule kinda just like a rule of thumb?

not in sa. its written in the code.

im thinking about getting an increase in track engineered then hopefullymy car will be 100% legal. that's what im aiming for.

I think at the end of the day if cops see a nice big set of aftermarket wheels, and they are in a filthy mood, they are gunna have a go. The price we pay for modifying cars is being harrassed by the police. I think its stupid that someone is defected when they have upgraded things like brakes wheels suspension etc, which in the end is probably over and above engineering standards for stock. I understand they wana stop people that have no idea putting something in and it fail and cause an incedent, but honestly a fully qualified shop with a bloke that is having a crap day can do the same thing.

If im going to modify my car im going to do it so that I get the look/performance I am after, if I get defected so be it. Im not saying im going to cut corners, but honestly does it really matter that my car has a pod ( in a turbo side box ) and I have wheels that stick out a little? are they going to pull out knives and slash the tyres of a car next to me or something are they? Maybe an immature/brat attitude, but what do you do when some laws are getting so ridiculous just to make the individuals who create them look better, or even worse just implemented as a band aid solution to a broader problem?

Im going 19x10 +15 all round with 245 tyres, with rolled and pumped guards on a BA sedan. Im buying henz' wheels. I like the pokey look, and worse comes to worse I put 265's on. Some rolling, pumping, those profile tyres and a litttllleeeee camber will see them basically sit flush with the gaurds anyway.

Sorry for the rant, but if you want a look, and have a set of stock wheels at home, I say go for whatever you want. I got out of a suspension defect last time by just saying 'the bloke I bought it off said it was legal, but I have a stock set at home which I intend to put on cause I didnt really belive him' and old mate let me off.

I just won a auction on Yahoo japan for some wheels for the ute

F: 19x8.5J +19 R: 19x9.5J -6

The rear is going to need some love to fit and might need a 15mm up front to even it out the look but will see how it goes when they arrive. That wont be for a while so gives me a chance to sort out suspension in the mean time

going to run srech.. maily due to force of habbit / wide tyres are expensive ha

someone on NS has has a 18x11+11 with a 255 and seems to fit without too much hassles so hopfully a roll and a bit the 9.5-6 wil be alright without a verandah flare. Not used to this non IRS business though. Used to being able to get it mm perfect with camber adjustment
