Peter

Did the car have the standard radiator? Was it running an oil cooler? Well done on the speed that's great for a locally built and modded car, great effort by APS keep it up guys.

TURBO4LT,

The radiator was stock and no engine oil cooler was utilised, though for extended performance driving those two items should be considered mandatory.

We only had 4 days notice to prepare the car for the test, so there was some frantic work going on, new brakes, new diff, wheels and tyres, safety straps on the tailshaft, and remove the speed limiter, it sure was a big effort to make the test.

Given more time we would have upgraded the cooling system and added a oil cooler.

Next year we plan to go 325KPH (203mph) so the xr6t should retain the title of Australias fastest road legal car and brake the 200 mile per hour barrier. Should be a real hoot.

Peter, the latest Street Machine mag has a 'news bit' on the increasing XR6T tuning battle, naming yourselves and Nizpro as the chief combatants. They mentioned the ute that ran 11:36 was Phase III with some Phase IV bits and we know how slow the print media is compared to the 'net. ;)

The XR6T article in the mag is based on the Nizpro Stage II kit (350kW.) It claims they aiming at 10sec 1/4s and eventually 1000HP so the line has been drawn in the sand, so to speak. :) The article ends with a reminder of the APS ute mentioned in the news bit which is more good news for APS. I notice the Nizpro article (and ad as well) don't mentioned ADR noise and emissions legality which put you guys even further in front.

So, how's about that 10sec APS T, followed by the 1000HP unit. ;)

VenomXR,

Good post and you raise some interesting points. No doubt everyone likes to see a battle between tuners and the bar is being raised to new heights in terms of performance, daily if not weekly.

The continued battle ia a long way from being finished and I firmly believe that the competition will be stronger in 04, in reality the battle is only just starting and we have only seen the opening shots from both camps. And lets keep an eye open for the other players within the industry.

This has to be good news for xr6t guys as the enterainment value will be high as neither camp is prepared to give an inch of ground on this issue. Problem is that the commerical stakes are high so neither tuning company wants to be seen as a loser or giving in to the other.

Bottom line is 04 is going to be world war III as we all want to hold the championship belt, at least for a short period of time.

The upside to this saga for xr6t enthusiasts will be the continued rapid development of high quality performance products from the best people in the tuning industry at very affordable prices. This certainly motivates APS to strive for perfection and to increase our efforts to meet our objectives.

I believe we will see a 10 second pass very soon, we have sufficient power right now to run the time, we just need an auto trans which shifts quickly and reliably, easier said than done. Who will be the first to brake the MAGIC 1000 horse power mark , time will tell the answer. Let the battle begin the gloves are off and its on for young and old!

bloody good work boys!!!....I've always wondered what sort of top speed these modded XRTs would run...

when I rang you guys the other month I could have sworn you said, that you remove the speed limiter as part of any APS package.

also I guess you would need to run 3.08s or an even higher diff ratio to get 325km/h, true??

Dave.

Congratulations Peter,

307k's is awesome!

To know that all of you guys are so supportive makes all of the effort that went into the car so rewarding for APS, I hope it put a smile on your faces.

Its about time the Expensive Daewoo camp has something to worry about, just imagine the look on their faces when they read the story.

Thanks again for your support.
