So anyway, back to cooler talk. If I got PW stepped cooler with piping and want go to a turbo side intake and loose crossover.

Will I need to change hotside piping?

so ive spent the day thinking about this......

there is 2 occasions where heat soak/IAT is going to matter.

  1. dyno day - but unless its going to affect the tune (not the repeat-ability of the RWKW number) I dont care and
  2. on the strip - which, I plan on doing maybe once or twice - ill just live with the fact the weather may have some influence on my times.

driving around town it doesnt mean much at all. ive been running stock for 4 years now, im sure if its a hot day after ive had it tuned/modded I just know it wont be at its peak.

am I on the right path here tuners?

every time you make boost you generate heat, so a cooler is not just for doing back to back dyno runs or drag racing, it is needed all the time unless you drive off boost.

We recently had a car that would not go over 275 rwkw, give it more spark and it would rattle, owner fitted a cooler and came back and with the same tune went 290's (I think) and then some tweaking we got it into the 300's

I've been in modded ba's with standard coolers and have seen them that hot u can't touch any part of the cooler and that was driving around on a warm night. (Yes it was spirited driving, and by the end the thing went so slow a stock xt falcon would have pumped us. I can get the first half of my cooler hot with some spirited driving. So no, intercooler performance is required all the time.

so WTF is the answer here peeps? lol

Ratter you obviously believe PW will be best for most peoples application? (only basing this on the 2 PW group buys you organised hahaha)

For someone who doesn't go track or to the strip what is best? So I'm talking almost daily driver (to/from work around 50kms each way and in stop/start traffic therefore taking up to 1 hour to drive) and with the occasional thrash every now and then (usually one or two good squirts....then maybe 5-10mins normal driving, then maybe a few more thrashes - but never continuous WOT like would be experienced at the track).....

Process West, Plaz and Nizpro all supply good coolers, but PW stepped cooler is more suited to those that don't to affect the structure of the car, PWR also do a stepped cooler which works reasonable

LOL ... thanks Mick (for confusing me a little more hahah). Not so fussed about cutting anymore (in Perth) - seems like everyone here does it anyways?

For my use as mentioned above which would you recommend? (Darren from Monsta Torque over here in Perth said the Stage 2 works more efficiently and better than stage 1 and apparently doesn't really like the Plaz gear?).

Choices are:

1) PW Stage 1

2) PW Stage 2

3) Plaz 800HP

4) Plaz 1000HP

Looking for 300-320rwkw first tune....I don't think I will want to go past 350-370rwkw ever (cause can't afford to rebuild/strengthen ZF). I will also have Plaz Turbo side but apparently all piping kits mentioned above will clear it (PW only just clears apparently?)...

I would like to know or have someone confirm this.

If going turbo side intake PW or Plaz, will it fit past Pw stepped cooler piping?
