All the ones I was happy for him to and none of the ones I didn't want him to.

Does it affect performance of the engine? positively

Does it look better? Yes

Does it increase efficiency of the engine? yes

Has anything been cut or could affect structural integrity? :ermm:.....mmm noo?

Look to be perfectly honest I found a local engineer and left the car with him for two days. He then gave me a list of things that I either needed to fix/adress and a list of supporting documentation I would need. I gained all the certs I needed (db report, speedo check and emissions) and then I had all the other non conforming elements fixed/modified. Once he was satisfied that the car met the criteria he passed the car and issued the permit/report.

Yes there were still somethings that if he'd really looked with a fine tooth comb he would of had an issue with but hey that's his job to find not mine to volunteer.

Pw2 cooler also requires a bit if trimming.. Does this put it in exactly the same boat as the pw3? Ie. is a cut a cut no matter how big?

Therefore there is no benefit to go with the pw2 or is the pw2 ok to get through rwc if need be?

on a FG most decent coolers require the radiator support bar to be cut off, this is why PW and PWR have developed their stepped coolers, for those that want to remain close to legal or do minimal to get back to legal

G'day guys.

Newbie here and what a great thread to read.

The PW stage1 is my choice so far. Mainly because it states no cutting etc to fit.

I'm new to Turbos. Always been a V8 driver and recently traded the BF Pursuit for a brand new FG MKII turbo.

Delivery took place mid December and I noticed the difference the car feels like in the hot weather.

Out of curiosity I had it dynoed at 3k and it pulled 235rwkw.

Took it to Calder and ran a 13.36 1/4. 60ft was 2.1 I think it was?

I'm thinking about a bare minimum upgrade and if the new cooler would make a difference in the performance without a tune or anything else? Or do I have to tune if I fit one?

Tuner involved is doing a full write up in the next day or two. Pic below shows comparison of intercooler outlet temps.

498 to 533rwkw...bolt off bolt on.... Results are nothing new to me :-)

Hi kev, could you please post up the corresponding power/ torque graphs for this run as well, I'm interested to see the power delivery early on in the run. If the claim that tube and fin does flow better than bar and plate does hold true, there could be better power and throttle response early on in the run until the temp rise is high enough to negate the advantage, this is where the bar and plate would take over?

For the last 4 years I have given my simple stepped PWR cooler a flogging at the circuit on my FG.

Surprise surprise it has worked well enough for me with careful cool down procedures.

However, it has been damaged recently and I need to upgrade.

Bar and plate vs tube and fin?

I only have good things to say about Process West. Innovative designs and a quality product. If I was not concerned about weight and doing the occasional drags, this would be my choice in a heart beat.

However, it is heavier than a similar Plazmaman Tube and Fin Stage 3 Cooler. Weight is very important to me. My car is already fat enough. Flow to the radiator is crucial as my car has always had temp issues at the circuit too.
From my understanding, air will flow through a Tube and fin cooler more effectively than a bar and plate.

Engineering theory would suggest that a heavier (bar/plate) cooler will absorb heat for longer duration potentially making it less efficient on a 10 lap supersprint session with constant airflow.........unless I am tailgaiting/being held up by an Evo.....:)

The Plazmaman stage 2 or 3 (light weight, high flow through) seems the logical choice for my unique circuit requirements.

Any thoughts?
