Just a few quick questions, was about to spend some cash on a cai but after reading a few posts I can see the idea of cutting a hole in the standard box seems more the go. Its free so why the hell waste cash. Just wondering wats the downside? Im assuming u dont get the small power gain u do from a cai? Do u still get a bit of extra sound? I guess I want a cai coz its a cheap n easy diy project but if its a waste of cash I'll leave it

I just cut the entire front face off the lower part of the box . As u have read the cross over and piping is the restriction not the box so save your money for now and spend on a better cooler or exhaust . Downside is not much really. Will sound a little bit louder

Crossover piping is still good for deep into the 11's, at least on the B series. Only closer to 375-400rwkw I think I'd want mine gone. Anyone been at those power levels, changed only that and seen the gains?

I've got 357rwkw with a Herrod cai and really regretting not going with thr cutting of the stock box

I'm going to chase 400+ with the standard crossover.

I'll let you know how it goes

^ should have spent a little more and gone turbo side mate. This was my airbox that I hacked up

Last week fitted plazmaman turbo side intake , worth the $700 just for the noise it makes, haha still makes me giggle everytime I give it some. I also like the look of the engine bay after getting rid of that fat ugly crossover

While it looks clean as without the crossover (tbh I don't know why ford designed it that way) I kind of like the look of a stock engine bay spitting out 400rwkws

I quite like the stock crossover with TURBO INTERCOOLED proudly displayed in raised lettering. Looks plain without it :) Unless you have a Nizpro plenum with the writing back on it!
