Hey boys and girls was wondering if anyone could tell me if the front compressor housing that comes out on the GTX3582r is the same housing as on the older GT3582r but with only the 'anti surge' feature?

I noticed that the GTX compressor wheel inducer size is 62.45 where the GT3582r has a smaller wheel inducer of 61.36?

Why I ask is because I was thinking of doing the simple mod of putting the bigger .70 housing on my 35/40 as I have a GTX front cover just laying around and my turbo needs to come off anyways.

So my question really is do I have to use the GT version on my turbo or will the GTX cover be fine?

Cheers :)

Well no its not quite like that

GTX has 4inch intake

GT has the stock 3 inch intake

U cant fit a GTX core in your GT without machining of the front stock cover.... So a GTX cover will not sit close enough to the stock wheel having a negitive effect

Are u sure its a GTX cover u have or is it a 0.7 cover with the 3inch inlet suited to stock wheel/core ?

Think u might be a little confused Arron. I'm not talking about fitting a GTX core to my stock .50 cover or anything like that and the GT3582r(.70) has a 4" intake like the GTX .70 cover. I know many people have put the .70 with the 4" on the stock 35/40 even Christains nizpro car ran this a some stage...maybe even a 9sec pass. My spare front housing is def a GTX and have been told by a few people that the GT3582r and the GTX3582r housing are the same except the GTX has the anti surge.

you can get the gtx with other covers, not just a .7 anti surge

Sorry yes I see, as far as I know yes the GTX cover should fit but for some reason alough the GT has the 7 blades and the GTX has 11 as u mentioned I think the GTX may be a touch bigger inside the core so at worse case it will slip over the GT wheel but again might have to much clearance

Yeah cool exactly my thoughts Arron! on the same page now! That's why I asked because I thought there would be to much clearance between the blades and inside housing....therefore making it not a worth while exercise. Might have to get the verniers out and do some measuring.
