I have a 2003 ba xr6 turbo with a 5 speed gearbox, wanting to put in a 6 speed.

I have found a fg xr8 6 speed gearbox.

Can I use the bell housing from my 5 speed on the 6 speed gearbox?

Will I need to buy different tail shaft?

Please let me know of any other things I need to do for this gearbox change.

Thanks

I've recently had my 5spd converted to 6spd. Most of it was paid for through used car warranty as it blew with 2 days left inside warranty. I know that they changed the gearbox cross member and stuffed around with wiring for the reverse gear. The only issue is gearbox chatter underload. Apparently you need a thicker oil but unsure of what grade to use

I only changed yolk and crossmember. Rest fit straight on. No wiring touched unless you want to connect the reverse lockout switch

Ohh and also you can't use the t5 bell housing.

Can I ask why the yolk?? And what oil did you use?
