it will happen mate trust me

post-14216-1231759250_thumb.jpg

It will happen, no doubt about it, but not as quickly as some were saying...

I mentioned somewhere on here 2 year's ago that we wouldn't see a 10 second manual for another couple of year's, and was subsequently shut down and I didn't know what I was talking about...

Well here we are, who would have thought it wasn't that easy...

Having been in the VL Turbo scene from it's inception, I predicted that the evolution of these car's would travel along a similar path at the Drag Strip, and I know back then there were quite a few VL's that were set up power wise to run into the 10 second zone in a manual, but the driveline's would never stop breaking.

A few guy's were going through an MX7 (VL Turbo 5 speed box) every meet!

Bottom line, expect a few "I thought we already strengthened that" day's LOL.

sorry I cant get specs on exactly what there doin. I texted my mate who works there & is his car & he wont divulge except that the turbo cant be bought off the shelf. I do know the cranks been race prepped to rev its nuts off, block braced & all the good stuff is goin in. Have seen the pistons there enough to make a grown man  I think there JE's & the HOWARD rods could hold a building up. It needed a new head because when it blew it took that with it but the heads been ported & they have done something with the valves??? Also there making there own 4" s/s exhaust & a pretty little nitto plenum is getting bolted on.

Told them to hurry up because I want mine but they wont start until his is done so we can pick the best bits & do a bee line to getting it done & learn from what they did first time around. I dont think I could live with itoff the road fro 15 - 16mths like he has. Its gonna be a monster either way but he hasnt made up his mind as to what box will be getting strapped it. Manual monster or something that's gonna smack it down the 1/4. It does have a brand new built 4spd with a 3000 stallie but it will smash it so its not gonna be used.

Just to throw a spanner in the work's, if that car from W.A with the Hollinger in it was to reset the "record", would most of us here consider it the quickest manual?

I know the guy's were actually chasing the overall BA/BF Turbo record in that car, having already run a 10.55 with an Auto a couple of year's back.

I figure if the car uses a Manually shifted box with a foot operated clutch then it will be regarded as the Fastest Manual XR6T/F6.

Stock Turbo classes can be put together later on, but considering the Manual Drag scene is so small, its all fair game at the moment

Daz has major issues getting that holinger to bolt up and be reliable as a package. It works though - no doubt.

And yes, it's a manual - just like a full dog box or something with straight cut 1-4.

He's changed his fone number and I have no idea how the car is progressing.
