Autos and turbos are made for each other. Faster changing and keeping the boost up between changes makes a huge difference.Brian

It was early 2004. Both on our standard street tyres.I had 340rwkw in the manual and Julian around 260-280rwkw (from memory)in the 4-speed auto and my first time ever at the dragstrip. Probably Julians as well.I think we were around level at the first gear change, then suddenly I was 1-2 car lengths behind, then same loss of ground at the next gear change. The manual was in it's element in highway cruising and acceleration, quicker than anything around at that time, BUT not quarter mile dragging.OT, but it's an interesting change now driving the dsg equipped GTR R35 against the F6 ZF with modified torque converter and quicker shifts (far quicker than standard ZF); driving them back to back. Shift times in both are very quick. The direct drive gears of the dsg gives it that manual feeling, versus a "mushy" feel that the ZF provides. The ZF auto feels like it is winding itself up ready to get going after each gear change, then it "sling shots" forward.I'm sold on dsg... especially when it comes with electronically controlled 4000rpm clutch dump.Brian

I remember you and Jeff going at it on the private road to Canberra.Still leaves me gobsmacked at how the stock T's were left behind.Brian you still need to commended on your pioneering of the Ts. Will never forget one of the early Xmas cruises and the crowd gathered around the blue beasty.

I also ran 138mph at full weight, which I think is the highest mph on street tyres (not MTs).Ask Spiko what it's like trying to run big power in a manual on street tyres... just heaps of wheel spin, and not what I'd call safe (some might say stupid!).Car was never meant to be, nor set up as a drag car; just did it for fun and to show I did actually have some power, then bought a ZF F6 as well.I think Ben in WA some years ago was the first to run an 11. He didn't have a lot of power, just plenty of practice, persistence, and a focus on getting the launch right, right rpm shift points, and quick gear changes. Very few in 11's; just be happy to pull a 12. Probably because there are so few manuals, and because they are so far behind the autos we haven't really been too concerned about a list for the manuals. If you do an 11 in the manual just let everyone know.Brian
