Hi Guys,

I guess we've all seen the good news that Ford is discounting the FPV F6? I'd include the URL but the dang paste function doesn't seem to work. The story is in the Car News section at www.caradvice.com.au. The F6 (normally $70k with options is now $55k drive-away.

But here's the problem. Rumour has it that Ford is about to re-release the XR8. Would I be right in guessing that it will come with the blown 5L V8? And will it be priced to take the fight up to the VF SS priced in the low $40k's? A blown 5L XR8 in the low to mid $40k's might make take the shine off the F6 at $55k.

So who's got a crystal ball . . . or inside info?

If that's the case then its a definate BANG FOR BUCK and the noise that the V8 makes is just music but one thing I realise is that the V8 doesnt have that big mid range hit and for the power figures it makes doesnt stack up well against the F6.

I love my GT but miss the Big six rush of torque...

I've got an FG F6 and I am toying with the idea of getting another new FG F6 .I 've never driven a supercharged Ford or any other S/C'd car for that matter. The XR8 will be the last Falcon

and judging by some "artist" impressions it should look quite good.I suppose the XR8 will give you a more immediate throttle response and the sound should be great.

The mid range torque delivery of the F6 is addictive and you feel like just riding the crest of the torque "wave" right until the car cannot give anymore. :)

I was given a $15,000 change over figure for a new MKii F6 which I thought was too steep,I may have to consider the updated new Xr6T. :(

Good luck!

I've put my name down for a V8 Mustang already. I will look at the XR8 when it's released and make a judgement. It would need to be significantly differnet to the FG to interest me. I seriously considered an F6 as they will probably become a bit of a collectors item and hold their resale well. But I don't need a 5 seater anymore and the Mustang just sounds so appealing. I hope the XR8 is a great success.

There are going to be a hell of a lot of Ford V8's moving forward (and backwards).

There will never be any more I6 Turbos (forward or back) than we have right now.

Was a VERY minor back-thought when I was looking at a new car. F6 got my vote (and deposit) hands down. Very keen to pick it up next month
