I'll have a rs6 any day.

I was lucky enough to go for a ride in an rs6. Amazing car. It just felt like it floated up to speed with no bother, no excessive noise. all of a sudden we were going 170kmh it felt like we were doing 60 in a normal car hahah.

So id have to agree, they can stick a $100,000 Expensive Daewoo up their anus

Since when is the gts 40k more expensive then the gt r-spec as tested rrp $76900 and the gts is 95k. I would personally live to see how they produce with performance mods again the gt. Most of the other cars gts was up against are 50k on top of the gts but who really cares most of us can't afford any of them...

I think the point is that hsv are saying their gunning against all these high powered, expensive euros but when it comes down to it even if they can say they put out the same power level it's still a far inferior car.

^ This. If you've got the money to spend on any of the other cars in that comparison, I'd take a punt and say you'd probably not be interested in looking at a HSV...I know I wouldn't be if I had that sort of money to blow on a car.

If you overlook the specific times and just look at the differences between each vehicle (considering they may have been poor conditions, but I'm assuming they were the same conditions for all vehicles), it stacks up really well. I've driven a mates F10 M5 and the acceleration was awesome, to see that the GTS stacks up so closely is pretty impressive to me, especially given the m5 cost around $220k (NZD).

If I could afford the GTS, I'd take it.

Every time there's a new Late model camira or HSV the magazines do a Euro comparison. State how the Aussie car is taking it up to the Euro brands.

Each time nothing comes of it - totally different class and market

The Mag did use a "rubbered up drag facility" doesn't mention which one.MOTOR was quite disappointed with times of both the Merc and M5.Apparently they tried countless times to match the official BMW/Merc times.I quite like the GTS because it challenges these Euros however I think the engine cannot match the other cars. it does well but I expected the acceleration rates 0-250+KM/h to be better. The biggest engine in the group begins to be left behind from about 110km/h.From 0-110 km/h it beats and matches a couple of the Euros. It also recorded the "slowest" 80-120km/h.time and the lowest 1/4 mile speed. It did well in the braking test.

It would've been interesting to have a R-spec GT in the mix as well.

Motor summed up the GTS as follows: "Quality ride, traction, strong brakes........Interior's shown up in this company, not as fast as it should be"

I always get the impression that euro's have much better Aerodynamics due to their higher freeway speeds (improves top speed, fuel economy, noise and high speed acceleration). I think that shows out in this test.

wonder what the track temp was - Euro's also seem slower when its hot (I guess like all cars) but when tested in europe its usually less than 20deg C. I am sure my car would be vastly different if tested at 15 degc and 30+ degc
