Has any one had any problems with the 6 speed zf? im looking at getting a 2013 ute but im not sure if I should go manual or auto. I have been told that the zf has had lots of problems and manual would better. But I do like the zf. Only if not if im going 101 problems with it.

Any info would be great.

Only time you'll have a problem with a ZF is when you start pushing over 500rwhp through it and give it a hard time. Some people say the cooler on them are no good and they fail which causes the 'milkshake' but from what I can gather is that happens more on the old BA 4spd auto. Of you are worried about it you can always get a external cooler fitted for a few hundred

Mine did over 200,000km (half that with over 300rwkw) on stock internals and a single fluid change (don't wait as long as I did though) and I love to boost it on the freeway onramps every single day etc...also raced it over many 800m runs at an airstrip even though it was slipping by then. Finally it's 15th or so 1/4 mile run a few months ago I wobbled the flexplate loose hahaha. Don't thrash the hell out of it cold, fit a PWR heat exchanger kit to eliminate the low chance of a milkshake and they are pretty awesome.

In the end choose which you like to drive most, is it a daily, do you care about clutching in peak hour traffic, more rewarding for you to drive manuals vs faster at the track with a ZF? In the end it's only you who has to like it :)

its worth having a zf just so you can go the drags and get a 13 flat every time with no bother and the manuals have to NAIL every single shift and the launch to come close which is pretty hard to do unless you're an old hand at drag racing

I probably won't drag it I have a xe for that with 650hp at flywheel I just want a quick a to b car as my au is getting old I might lower it and change exhaust and maybe tune it
