Hey People,

We have a BA mk2 04 xr6t 180k, we had car serviced the other day for warranty and when got the invoice there was a few issues ultratune claim need attention, Two things that required urgent attention were "Injector o'ring leaking fuel",(clean & reco) - $440. and "coolant header tank broken and leaking" - $165....I have already lined up a brand new header tank from wreckers for $50 and as for the injector issue, there has been a notible fuel smell and when checked myself the leak is visible from the closest injector when standing at the front of car.... what I want to know is what would they be doing for that much$440, would they be replacing injectors with reco'd ones, or would they simply be cleaning them off car for that price I would imagin so.. But in saying that if that's the process would it be that big of a job to sort the injector leak problem out myself. because the car runs fine, fuel consumption is not the greatest I get bout 580-600km outta full tank. The indication I got from the mechanic was the injectors appear to be workng ok just the seal(s) need to be replaced hence the leaking fuel. How would I best approach this. Im not to keen on forkn out $440 for something I could do myself for a fraction of the cost with the right instructions/directions. Im no mechanic but feel confident in performing the work. just need to know what to do n how to go about?

just wanna say you can get the seal kit for injecters on ebay for like 20 bucks, also 600k's from a tank of fuel is great for that car.....wish mine did that

They should clean them with an ultra sonic cleaning bath for that price. But if you pull your spark plugs and they are all very similar colour then I would say to just reseal them. If you know some one with an RAC card then you can get 25% off parts at repco :)
