fishy086 Inactive Members 1 Member For: 11y 3m 28d Posted 11/01/14 12:23 PM Share Posted 11/01/14 12:23 PM Hey People,We have a BA mk2 04 xr6t 180k, we had car serviced the other day for warranty and when got the invoice there was a few issues ultratune claim need attention, Two things that required urgent attention were "Injector o'ring leaking fuel",(clean & reco) - $440. and "coolant header tank broken and leaking" - $165....I have already lined up a brand new header tank from wreckers for $50 and as for the injector issue, there has been a notible fuel smell and when checked myself the leak is visible from the closest injector when standing at the front of car.... what I want to know is what would they be doing for that much$440, would they be replacing injectors with reco'd ones, or would they simply be cleaning them off car for that price I would imagin so.. But in saying that if that's the process would it be that big of a job to sort the injector leak problem out myself. because the car runs fine, fuel consumption is not the greatest I get bout 580-600km outta full tank. The indication I got from the mechanic was the injectors appear to be workng ok just the seal(s) need to be replaced hence the leaking fuel. How would I best approach this. Im not to keen on forkn out $440 for something I could do myself for a fraction of the cost with the right instructions/directions. Im no mechanic but feel confident in performing the work. just need to know what to do n how to go about? But if you pull your spark plugs and they are all very similar colour then I would say to just reseal them.
