Can pre machined drums that fit extra clutches be bought off the shelf?Or would you say leave it to the pros?

If you have no time constraints with the car I'm sure it's doable. I have a link to a Jag zf6hp26 rebuild, will dig it up and post Edit: was a range rover trans but still 6hp26http://www.rangerovers.net/forum/6-range-rover-mark-iii-l322/44034-zf-6hp26-teardown.html

However, if you the the manual and set your bearing preloads right then I think the autos are easy. Edited 11/01/14 01:40 PM by AdamIan69

If you had a little spare money, time & the inclination, there are zf boxes that come up on ebay from time to time. Having a replacement might be a good idea. You could also mod the other then sell it. Might make some money back on it?

Some are attention to detail, read up heaps and will get whatever they put their hands on right. Others will have 20 years experience in building boxes and still phuck it up.I'd say if you are the former and a bit of mechanical experience with autos then go for it.If you go ahead please post up what you do. A nice big clean bench where you can lay everything out methodically is a must
