20L GW I paid $130 for 20L. That gives me 2 oil changes with a 5L flush both times. 50K service is ok for stock car but high powered or beaten cars need to be less. 20K-30K

I have to disagree with that part mate, you would have to think 150 passes (all between 126 - 135MPH) would be enough to say that 50,000klm intervals with LG6 is enough.

Every 20 or 30 would be overkill, so if you are changing your GW every 20 or 30 maybe it ain't as good as the LG6.

Mines almost done 50, I'll do the turbo and see how the input likes it, if it goes ok, I'll dump the oil and see how it looks but I'm sure it will be fine.

there can be a difference with being compatible and being approved, unless an oil company pays ZF in this case to test and approve their oil, then it will not be approved, even if it is exactly the same, same manufacturers I think are claiming approval because it may be compatible.

We stock Castrol oils at work, Castrol know many people were using Transmax Z with great results, but they would not recommend it themselves as they know they do not have ZF's approval

Suitable for use as per the manufacturers specs vs manufacturer approved for the warrantable life of the component as Ratter mentioned may at times only come down to paying for the Manufacturers approval.

Who do you think makes LG6? (hint it's not ZF)

I doubt gearbox warranty would be an issue for most of the people in this thread.

Sorry Mick but I don't understand your post, are you saying that GW is approved by ZF?

There no oil apart from LG6 that is approved for the ZF HP26, the ford R128 oil is LG6 re bottled for ford.

Would appreciate you answering my question in regards to which oil you would recommend if they were the same price as you have had great success with the GW.

George

I would use the approved oil if they were the same price, we give any customers an option on which oil they want if getting their trans serviced.

I'm not aware of official ZF approval on GW for our trans
