What's the deal with the gw drum saying on it it's approved for use in the zf then? Have they just decided themselves it's approved with no approval from zf themselves?

Yes, there is no oil appart from LG6 which is approved by ZF

How do they get away with that? Scoundrels!

GW would have conducted their own testing so they feel it is ok to use and are willing to put their products credibility on the line,

which is great but does not mean that they would have done the same amount of testing that ZF has done.

You should get GW to use your car as a test vehicle and do 150 passes with GW like you have with ZF:)

Don't get me wrong guys, I was initially going to use Amsoil ATL as this was and still is the closest in spec to the LG6, pretty sure the new Liqui-Moly Top Tech 1800 (who have also self approved their oil) is almost identical in spec.

Amsoil advised against using their oil for the ZFHP26 and recommended I keep using the LG6.

I agree, it used to be $60-$70 per litre from Ford but now it can be had for less than $25

$25 per litre isn't that pricey, you need about 5 - 6 for a service, if you service it every 50,000 you should be fine,

I pay $15 per litre for engine oil and service the car every 10,000 so for me the ZF service is way cheaper than the engine service, even a ZF flush with 10L every 50,000 is cheaper than an engine service.
