Hey guys,

I know its been spoken to death but a quick question about a CAI.

I have been reading that a easy cheap upgrade is using the lower half of the air box and snorkel from an XR8.

Do we have a specific part number for these? Also, I already have a kn panel filter in my standard box, will this fit the XR8 lower half or do I have to get a new one?

k&n filters the same, best to get it through ftg auto salvage cause they modifiy them to fit the 6 cylinder or if your in Brisbane you can buy mine for half price.

So does the bottom end need to be modified or can I pick one up from fraud if I need to and it will bolt straight up?

and is it worth it? im not planning on massive gains, end game is just an exhaust and intake, will this one work well enough?

Just cut a big hole in the lower part of the air box and leave the standard snorkel in place. Its free and does the job

Wouldn't even bother they make no difference, only reason is to make more noise or if you are running huge power

Talking to someone at the drags and their f6 (same airbox as xr6) is running 10s quarter mile with the stock airbox with a hole drilled in the bottom half

Thanks guys, I went the xr8 bottom end anyway, ive always made sure my cars and bikes can breath a bit easier than standard. Got the kit from ftg auto salvage, bolted up pretty dam easy and it feels like it has made a nice difference, but that may just be my head justifying the mod, who knows. Looks stock, breaths better, no dodgy holes, im wrapped.
