Just been reading some info on the XR8 in the mag.According to the mag the 310 kw F6 engine will go into retirement and 5.0 s/c engine will be fitted to the upcoming XR8.What I found strange was that the mag. mentions that FPV were testing a 351 kw version of the GT but decided against it because of potential diff issues and therefore warranty claims.So an 16kw extra could lead to diff issues,are they kidding ???

Surely it would be such a burden on the diff?

Since Ford are not going to use the F6 motor I've been thinking of buying the new XR8 rather than the XR6T because it would seem to be taken a step backwards from my F6?

I can't recall the exact article and content , but I can recall some 12 months ago reading a article that stated FPV had been testing a 375kw engine , and they stated , without a intercooler , the internals as well as the gearbox and diff could result in a high number of warranty claims - which FPV were not happy to accept as it would have resulted in the brand been blemished ...

They failed to deliver the 375kw engine and FPV failed regardless ...

Supercharges do run cooler than turbos but yet a higher output (375kw) could've presented FPV with a warranty problem!

So if anyone has had a tune only done to their GT335, taking the power levels up to say...... 350kw atw,they'd be stuffed ???

If I owned a GT,I would have to very seriously think twice about ANY potential upgrade.

I think I'll stick to my turbos :)

Any idea what thiw would equate to in RWHp or RWKW, as my old XR6T had 348 RHP on a 10 pound tune. Would the new XR8 be more or less? Rough guesses only.

Decent Tune only should be no problems ,, these v8s are running stuff all boost, motors are tuff as , only problems are with tail shaft and input shaft on higher powered cars , zf tuned cars or people hooking these things up hard at the drags with slicks etc .

1 kW = 1.341hp

100kw = 134.1hp

Your xr6t had 259rwkw and I give about 90hp of loss through the auto drive line. That would approximately give you 326 engine kW.
