Fg Zf Flaring

Hi guys, I've got a tune but the box is still running the standard programming.

On up shifts there is a slight flare where the revs rise a few hundred RPM.

I'm sure it's because the torque reductions (shift fart) have been removed or greatly reduced.

Is this normal? Anyone else in the same boat?

Will a ZF tune fix this?

Depends it could just be the torque convertor doing its thing. .

Usually with flare it's specific to one gear... mine does it in 5th only

How much power and how many k's? Might need a flush.

Im running 373rwkw standard zf tune with small fart still in the engine tune and it doesn't flare at all but it has been looked after with fresh fluid

Oh and a zf tune can help quicken up the changes and stop flaring however if you have flogged the clutches it will probably mask the problem for a while before it starts flaring again. Not all ZF tunes are the same either, I had the worst one known to man for a while and haven't as yet got new tuner to do one. Will wait till my box gets a birthday.

I've got a tuned zf with a fart still. at 357rwkw and fifth will flare at WOT

Only 5th gear flares... 1st is very clunky but improved with a service

Get your gearbox serviced and for goodness sake don't ever let your tuner get rid of the "fart" with a stock box... It's just asking for trouble

Yeah I am sure he is asking why its bad to delete the fart. I have heard opinions 50/50 - some say it causes havoc with driveline forces (ie you will snap an input shaft with it on like the guys who have broken theirs peddling a skid) others say it doesn't completely cut power so doesn't shock load the trans and helps getting the shift done under reduced load.

Maybe ratter or jet or someone with moar mechanical knowledges can share their opinions.
